Players still to expensive....movies to expensive, and some people already have a library of DVD's they've accumulated and don't wish to re-purchase in BluRay or even worse "A new and better media player" Some consumers can't see the difference being worth the expense and some consumer just can't see the difference in the quality ( I'm sure you've all been in a situation where you overhear a shopper saying "I don't see anything different in the picture")?? A lot of consumers are trying to figure out what to do about the change over to Digital TV in Feb 09 and the high cost of TV replacement and the probility of replacement cost to a digital set neverless an HDTV. That coupled with the confusion of uneducated consumers trying to decide Plasma / LCD and save some $$ will unfornately lead to the purchase of a lower quality products, which there are a glut of available, at much lower cost will I'm sure lead to many unsatisified buyers. And now especially with economy in such a turbulant state, most consumers are delaying these new upgrades in lieu of other priority expendetures like Food / Gas / Home heating cost and other trivial items (LOL). If manufactures of these "toys" do not bring the cost into a more realistic realm it could possible lead to a downfall of these systems. Not everyone can afford the toys that they would like to have and if the manufacturers do not do something to rectify the situation they maybe leading to their own demise......I'm sure we have all tried to educate some of these shoppers to the differences only to hear "Yeah, but this one is $500.00 or !000.00 less" MANUFACTURES PLEASE WAKE UP !

Another idiotic poll.

If 9% of all American consumers bought a Blu-Ray player this year, Blu-Ray would be one of the biggest hits in history.

This should, of course, have been prefaced with "Interactive Polls have little to do with the general population, since the general population doesn't participate in on-line polls, which are almost exclusively limited to those who are attracted to and comfortable with new technology and far more liklely to participate in polls than the general population".

In that context, 9% is a lousy number.

I agree, that would be a huge number in my opinion. I know I am one of the ones to have bought a Blu-ray in 2007 and I am very happy with it, outstanding picture and sound quality.

What is low are the number of high definition TV's in homes today that actually are connected to high definition sources, broadcast or DVD.
