:banghead: I am planning to add more rooms at home with Directv.I already have 2 other rooms with Directv and have two HD receiver's.I want to have 4 rooms with HD DVR's.
Would'nt it make sense that Directv would be happy that I wanted to have additional rooms with Directv and get their HD DVR's in all those rooms-4 rooms?
Would'nt you think they'd give me a sweet deal?
Well, they are'nt.I called their fulfillment center and customer service.Lousy deal's all around.
I was told back in September when I joined Directv that I would have to wait a couple month's before I could get a better deal. So,I called yesterday-May6th,2008 and was told the usual wait is 6 month's.After checking my account and seeing that I'm a customer in good standing I was offered NO DEAL !!! The people at DTV were sweet as pie to me and with the same sweet voice still would'nt give me any deal.
What's up with THAT??!!!!
I subscribe to their Premiere Package which costs me alot of money and will cost me more when Directv add's all the next new batxch of HD channel's in september or October of 2008.
I pay alot and I think I deserve to be given a few breaks in costs..Especially if I get more of their equipment and more rooms added !
What do any of YOU think about this and have you had similiar experience's with DTV's sickenlly sweet customer service and fulfillment department's?

I wish I could have gotten my HD-DVR's at the current $199 price instead of $299. When we got all those new HD channels in Sep-07, the price did not go up. Directv has already raised the prices once this year. Why do you think they will raise prices again in Sep?

rickbbb
05-07-2008, 12:39 PM
I've read from many poster's on highdefforum that Directv WILL raise their price's when they add the several new HD channel's this fall.It is common with DTV to do this when they add alot of new hd channel's all at once.
And $199 is still alot of money ! Especially since I want to get 4 HD DVR's.That's about $800 plus !
I just feel insulted by DTV's arrogance and taking the customer for granted !

I think you need to start looking at other options for your TV signal. You seem to always be on a rant here about D*, so there has got to be a provider out there that will give you what you deserve for nothing and do it with a smile. Maybe they'll even throw in a new flat screen every couple years. Wouldn't hurt to ask.

Chirshey,we live in a condo building and the cable wires are built into the building and have corroded from age. This problem can't be repaired. So cable tv does not work in our building anymore is not an option.
We have Dish Network on the two tv's I want Directv on.

I just wonder why everyone always wants a deal? Because you fill your car up with gas every week do you expect the gas station attendant to give you a couple dollars off on a gallon of gas just because? I know people always mention about getting deals but they do not make up the majority of D* customers, just like people complaining about hardware on the forums do not make up a majority of customers.

You do not have to use D*, if it is such a problem then go to Dish for all your TVs.

Do you WORK for Directv ?..because you seem to have the same insensitivity as they do.
The reason some businesse's do better than other's is because they DO give the customer deal's.
I personally pay for a family of 6.I work hard in a full-time job.We barely get by and the only enjoyment I can barely afford is Directv.
THINK before you assume you know everything about someone's life ! we are ALL individual's and we all have different living situation's !

I was just making the point that people always think they are entitled to deals. If a business is going to give all their customers deals why not just make it a regular thing. Also, why should DirecTV give you a deal over say 5 other people that call in and ask for a deal? You ave not even been a member for a deal yet you are entitled to a deal already? My parents have been members for almost a decade and have not gotten a deal and guess what, they are ok with that.

Does DirecTV know about your living situation? Did you tell them about it? I too subscribe to the Premier Package and the NFL Sunday Ticket (which my roommate helps pay for). I have 3 rooms hooked up with HD DVR's and I paid for all of them. Should I get a deal as well?

I am just trying to understand what it is you want and why you think you deserve it? Your not the only person that has posted a rant about this before and I usually ignore them but today I felt like giving my 2 cents and if that is a problem to you then sorry.

I've read from many poster's on highdefforum that Directv WILL raise their price's when they add the several new HD channel's this fall.
I have not seen any posts about price increases this fall. When Directv raises prices, it is normally once a year around the March/April timeframe.

maybe its just me , but if i was supporting a family of 6 , DTV would be the least of my issues , as i would not have it , unless i was a 6 figure a year salary kinda guy ....glad i am single with that kinda coin....i have a friend that owns a bar/pizza joint and he just wanted like 6 hd non dvr
units and they held him to the big price ....and he has had units in his bar
for years ...no deals for him

I have a regular job and make under $30,000 a year before taxes.I have a disabled mother and autistic neice and a sister who is dieing and she's only 38 ..Directv is one of the only pleasure's and emotional escapes that we have and we enjoy being with each other watching it.

DTV is targeting higher income households, folks who dont call their service center, etc...

That is what I have read anyway, here or somewhere.

I even remember hearing that they keep a score on you based on how many times you call in, the less you call the higher your score.

Most businesses don't really care about this situation, I'm afraid. You can't go to a car dealership and demand a great deal, get something off your rent or mortgage because of your situation, nor get a discount on your food or clothing just because. I wish it were like that and I do sympathize with you. You have a lot of your plate and I, too, get great enjoyment out of Directv as someone without your burdens. I fully understand you using some nice HD as a stress release. I wish I had the power to give you a break. God bless you, my man.

That does stink. I have an HR20 and an HR21, and I didn't pay for either of them except shipping. I also didn't pay for the old HR10-250 that's in my basement. I don't think I've ever had to actually pay for a DTV box outside of the SD Tivo I have that I got off eBay. (except the normal lease fee and shipping).

I don't know what the reason is. I have been a DTV subscriber for 12 years or so, and I've always had everything. I get premiere, MLB and NFL every year.

But yeah.. it doesn't make sense they sometimes give people deals and others no deal, even if it's apples to apples subscribers.

So how is it that you have not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4!!! HD televisions that would even be able to make use of said HD DVRs?

An somehow it now needs to be in HD? Really? If you want to get in a pissing contest with me or any other member on here as a way to justify that you some how deserve free stuff, then bring it on. I can guarantee you won't get any sympathy from me.

After 10 years of service, I finally got a "free upgrade", but that was only because my previous HD-DVR (which I paid for) was acting up and was a Tivo unit, so I had to get the new HD-DVR and 5-lnb dish.

I swear, people who complain about their financial woes in a forum based on a luxury item, and the high end of that luxury item to boot (HD) drive me crazy.

You are crying because you are not getting something for free? There are people whom have a hard time feeding themselves and are happier than you, and you complain because Direct will not give you more free equipment? My God, you sound like my students.

Companies exist to make a profit. They cannot give their inventory away at a loss. Stop complaining and be happy with what you have. You already have several TV's with service, how much more do you need?

I have had DirecTV for over 10 years- never got a deal. I just pay the bill for the services I ask for. I have a choice, I know that. To me it's worth the money. They can't give you a deal just because you're just getting by, the same way they shouldn't charge a millionare $1,000/month just becasue he can afford it. I am very sorry to hear of the situation of your mother, niece and sister. That is very unfortunate. But supporting a family of 6, living in a condo, under 30k a year? That seems next to impossible. And you're upset because you want 4 HD DVR's? Your priorities don't seem to be in order.

Dude When You call D tv and get no where just hang up. Call back 5 min. later U will get a different sales rep. from a different office persistance isn't against the law. There is always a way to get something. Last resort raise hell and ask to speak with a supervisor. Then do it again 5 minutes later.

rickbbb, How many years ago were the condo units built ? I really doubt the cable wires in the wall would be corroded from age. I'm sure the cable company could manage to get service into your condo unit if you wanted it. They could run a new line on the outside of the building or perhaps maybe even fish new cables in the walls.

I am sorry about your situation. Take the advise of others and be persistant, keep calling looking for specials. This doesnt mean that you will get any. I want specials and free stuff too. The only thing I ever got was the initial free HBO for 3 months, and now its gone. But I do have high Def on the main screen and I will kick, bite, and stab to get my chair there.
