Here are the two that I am considering.
Westinghouse VK-42F240S
Vizio VX42L
They are the same price at Sam's Club. I play Xbox 360 quite alot. The Westinghouse is 1080P and has a 6ms refresh rate, buit I know how many people rave about the Vizio. Any comments or suggestions?

I noticed that CC has a Samsung #LNT4042H for the same price so that is an option as well.

Well, my Mom recently had to upgrade since her old CRT finally died. We ended up with a Vizio and overall its a pretty good TV. Once you set it up it looks pretty darned good. Hers is only the 32" model but I suspect the 42" is in the same ballpark for quality.

I havent heard about Westinghouse so I cant comment.

Its also worth your while to look at the Samsung 40". Their LCDs arent too bad either, I reckon.

Hello New here have been looking around for a few weeks, nice forum. The Vizio has a small setup graphic display (menu) I had to be right on top of the set to use the setup. I looked at the Westinghouse but can't remember the menu display size. This may or may not be important to you but it was a factor in what I bought. Also it is a good idea to check the website of the TV you are looking at, to see if it has support. Example Replacement remote conrtols, remote codes for your cable box remote and in some cases downloadable patches for the TV to correct software problems. Westinghouse was at one time a good trusted brand, but like most old brands it probably has been bought by some China company and is a name only. Walmart / Sams was the first to sell this brand this time around. Get the most features you can get for your money and the website is a good indication of how the company will be if you need service.

I have a Westinghouse 42" monitor and recommend it. I didn't like the Vizio computer support compared to the Westy, 1366x768 vs 1920x1080. That Westy I don't have any experience with. You can save quite a bit of money with either even if you go for extended warranty.

They are both pretty good TV's. I prefer the Westinghouse but have recommended and setup many Vizio's. The question is which looks better to you and has the options you want. We all have our favorites so the decision is REALLY up to you. Either way you can't go wrong.

Because you will be using it to play games, I'd follow rbinck's words about the resolution-- more is better . . . go for the 1920 X 1080.
