Thoughts on Panny 58" and 65"

In the near future I'm going to be purchasing the Panny 58" plasma. I have found out though, that the 65" is going for around $6500. It is almost twice the price, but I just love the massive size of the 65. Any of you guys own the 65", your thoughts? BTW, Panasonic does not include a pedestal with this monster, it's optional as well as a wall bracket.

Help us out here. If you are going to buy the 58, why do you care about the 65?

Sorry, I should of stated that I am looking at both and if not the 65, I will be buying the 58 for sure. I'm going to be moving into a bigger house soon, so just wanting to get feedback from you 65" owners...you know, the advantages over the 58" ;)

What would be the most common viewing distance? What would be the maximum? If te common would still be around 11 ft., I would say 58'' would be plenty. I am about 12 ft. away and 50'' fits me well. A 58'' would not suck, but 65'' I think:what: .. Also what is the size of the room.

Is that 58'' a 768p or 1080p? That could also be why it is almost twice the price in addition to the extra 7''... I would hope so because no way I would pay that much more for only 7''. That's what she said..:D

Regarding the size, we have to talk in relative terms. Going from 58" to 65", the diagonal is increased by 12%, and the area is increased by 25% !
However, that increase in size doesn't justify the double in price. I think it's not worth unless you're quite rich and money is not the main issue.

The 58" is a 1080p also. Yes, I agree the extra 7" does not justify the huge increase in price. I don't have details on the room size because we haven't decided on a house just yet. I guess not too many people own the 65. ;)

Just my opinions:

A shame you weren't looking a couple months ago when the 65PZ750 was selling as low as $4,495 on line. Apparently demand surged when competing Pio Kuro stocks shrank, resulting in higher prices now.

If you've got the cash and don't consider value vs. panel size -

An additional 25.9% viewing area is not at all insignificant, especially with 1080p and the quality picture these sets are capable of producing. At 11' a 65" may be slightly bigger than needed, but I think you'll thank yourself over and over and over and...... when you watch your first Bluray disc on it and get that truly immersive HD experience only a large panel can provide.

There is more than one 65" Panny model available at this time. If you're looking at the 65PZ750, then google "Panasonic 65PZ750U Thread!" without the quotes and read. I doubt you'll think about the 58" after that.

Better yet, be patient, wait a few more months if possible and take a look at the all new 65PZ850. This model is anticipated to have significant upgrades in picture quality, connectivity, features and newer cosmetics. No, the price will not be rational but, with the exception of the 2008 9g Kuros, the performance should be in a class by itself. That's the baby I'm waiting to see.

OK, if this sales pitch hasn't convinced you, then go ahead and buy the 58; it's a fine panel. As long as you never move further than 11' from it, you can repeat, "What a nice value" over and over and over and............:D

*Hands over CC* ;) My thoughts exactly. I've seen the 65 and no doubt you get that immersive HD experience. I also want to see that new 850.

Looks like a rather wide range of almost $1000.00....:yippee:

Whoops, found another at butterflyphoto (love their site) they have it around 5300.00
Its the ability to do the 24fps that puts them over the top as far as I am concerned.......

The 58PZ700U Is a great unit. We have sold many 65PZ750U units and installed a few. Big and heavy ;) Overall picture quality and value is unbeatable for the price. The 65" units are sold out nationwide. They were even less in March at about $4500 delivered ;) When they come back in stock we will see what price they will be at. The stand is not included and are quite expensive at $1000.

Another nice option to look into is the 63" Samsung FP-T6374, these are under $5000 and have a 2 year in home warranty and are actually around.
