Help deciding between Samsung and Panasonic 42" Plasma

So I've narrowed my search down to two 42" plasmas: Samsung's PN42A450 and Panny's comparable model, the TH-42PX80U.
Does anyone have advice on which to buy? I can get the Samsung for $1199 and the Panny for $200 less at $999. They have similar specs, however the Samsung has a PC input which the Panny doesn't. The Samsung also has this new 3d technology which seems cool, but probably not really useful in the near future. However, the Samsung is a lot newer and I have yet to read any reviews on it, whereas the Panny seems to have plenty of rave reviews. Can anyone help me make my decision??

What are your primary uses going to be for the TV? This is a big factor. Also, how will lighting be in the room? Is it going to be pretty controlled lighting, or a lot of sun throughout the day?

I personally own a panny 42PX60U, which is a few models back from the one you are looking at, and I absolutely love it. PQ and color detail are great.

I'm mostly using it for HD cable broadcasting, especially sports. I plan on getting a blu ray player at some point in the future as well. Lighting isn't really an issue since I can make the room pretty dark. If I got the Samsung, I might use it to watch movies from my hard drive through the PC input, but I don't care about that feature enough to spend an extra $200. Are there any other factors that I'm overlooking?

I would try to audition the sets in an environment as close as possible replicating your viewing area. Personally I would get the Panny, based on my positive experience dealing with Panasonic customer services with a Blu-ray player that had playback problems.

I'd get the Panasonic, they move the most plasma units of any company and their quality is fantastic.

I'd lean toward a 1080p PDP if you're going to get a Blu-ray player. My preference would be a Panny even if I had to spend a bit more. :2cents

Bought the TH-42PX80U for my office yesterday and it has excellent picture quality. Definitely alot of bang for the buck . I had bought a Toshiba Saturday and took it back to get the Panasonic yesterday and boy did I make the right choice ......excellent deal for right at a grand.
