What is considered Standard Installation ?

I am considering getting Directv and had one of their installation specialists come to the house to see how they would run the wires to the TVs. The person said that my installation would not meet the definition of standard installation and that I would be charged $50/drop - a total of $200 for the four standard units.

The dish would be mounted on the a 2nd story roof and the four wires would be run up to the 3rd floor attic.

It would seem that your answer has already been given, by the best possible source. But you still might have options. In reading here, I have seen posts about hiring private contractors , independent of D*, to do the major setup work that D* charges extra for. Some setups are just going to cost more, no way around it. Good luck, you will love it when you have it.

I would suggest running TWO RG6 Runs from each TV location, They should charge you the same amount as qutoed for one run each. but if you ever get a DVR it would be already to connect when you are ready for it.
