Hello Hi Def forum guys and gals. Maybe you can help a hi-def newbie out. I have had Directv (5 years now, regular, not hi def)mounted onto the side of my mobile home about 6 inches down from my roof.(not on roof).
I asked Directv about hi def where I lived and they told me that a hi def dish can go into the same spot as the old dish. Well, when the installer came out, he took one look and said that there was no way that his dish would work there. He said that his dish and mounting pole was 40 lbs and that would tear down the side of the aluminum siding in no time flat, and that a roof install would just create a leak.
Now I have been bummed for about a week, then I researched a bit today and saw that a slimline dish was 25 lbs or so with mounting pole. I hope that maybe the 25 lb dish can go onto the side of a mobile home.
Anyone have any idea what options I may have to get a dish onto the side of my mobile home? Have had a small one there with no probls for 5 + years, and I cannot pole mount the dish on the ground with the rules of the park I live in, so it has to be on side of mobile home or else I just do without or go to cable.
Thanks in advance for your time :)

Put in in a flower pot by the side of your mobile home filled with cement so it doesn't move.

That's how I tailgate, and I'm sure it would work in your situation too.

if it were me,,i would mount a piece of 3/4 in plywood where dish is going,,,secure plywood to trailer wall studs with lag bolts...paint plywood color of trailer,,mount dish to plywood... or could mount 2 lengths of 1x6 pressure treated lumber where mount and outrigger arms will be mounted for dish,,,....look at someone elses high def dish that is mounted and figure out what size piece of plywood you need to mount to outside wall......sounds like the installer did not try hard enough..

If you realy, realy have to have the antenna mounted where you want it, ask the installer if they will align an antenna if you install it yourself. Or, see if there is an independent installer around your area that will install it for you if you supply all the hardware.
