hi, I'm having Dish installed next week, quick question. I'm having 2 HD receivers installed, and an HD DVR in another room. does the HD DVR if recording affect the other 2 receivers? And can I watch stuff recorded on the DVR from another TV or no?

The receivers are completely independent of each other as far as I know. So the HD DVR recording does not affect the other two receivers.

As far as watching stuff recorded on the HD DVR, you can hook up one other TV that can watch stuff recorded on the HD DVR. Also, the transmission on this other TV is SD. The HD DVR has two tuners, one for the main TV (the HD tuner) and another one for the other TV (the SD tuner).

This is based on my experience with my 622 HD DVR. If anyone knows anything different, please advise. Thanks.

Just thought of one more thing... not sure if this can be done, but maybe someone else can answer this. Can you use a splitter and use that second tuner to connect to more than one TV. Of course those two TVs will view the same thing, but I can't think of why it can't be done. Again, I have not done this so I'm just thinking out loud here.

i didn't really mean by a splitter, I meant if it was like on a network and the other 2 receivers could access the harddrive. sounds like a no. i wasnt expecting the feature, although it would be nice

From an HD dual tuner receiver, both tv1 and tv2 can view all recordings. TV1 in HD and TV2 in SD. A third tv could easily be connected to tv2 output and also watch any recording.

Dual tuner receivers actually have THREE tuners: tv1, tv2, and any OTA hooked up. It can record three programs at once.

i dont really get it then. i have 3 seperate tuners, one with the dual hd tuner. to watch the shows in SD, would the TV have to hooked up to it instead?

Okay, 3 boxes: I assume a 722, and two 211s
recording on the 722 will not affect the other receivers at all.
Record to tv2 off the 722 and you can still change channels on tv1.
Either tv1 (HD) or tv2 SD can watch any recording from the dvr.
