I remember watching this movie over and over when I was a kid. Haven't seen it in years, might have to pull the trigger on this classic Arnold flick.

I'm not, no release date set and can't import thanks to the wonderful next generation region protection :(

I'll get it eventually. Will probably pick up Predator first, as soon as it's on sale.

I'll get it when it's on sale. Good movie, seen it at least 5 times.

Yeah, I don't see any need for region coding on 20+ year old catalog titles.

Yeah hatt, don't forget Predator comes out the same day. Bout the only good release day on my calendar so far considering what is on the slate.

Movie Goofs For Comando:

The chase with the Porsche and the little red car, the Porsche is all banged up in one scene and perfect the next and so on for a few shots. - Vic

Just after the wrecked Porsche, when Arnold is holding a bad guy over a ledge, you can see the cable attached to his ankle. - Billy Voltaire

In one scene, when a soldier gets shot and falls off of roof you can see the safety mattress that he lands on. - David

When Arnie blows up parts of the baddie compound, you can see the bad guys are just dummies on poles. - David

Addition: Indeed, even when the house blows up right behind them shooting debris and stuff all over, they won't budge. Talk about standing in guard. - Webmaster

When Arnold blows up some bad guys who then fly through the air, you can clearly see the air ramps that launch them up. - David

Addition: Yes, it is in the scene, where Arnold throws his first hand grenade.
When the car crashes, the dummy posing as Rae's head comes off. - Troy
The line of bullets going into Arnie's gun grows and shrinks throughout the final shootout. - David

In one scene Arnie jumps behind bushes, and bullets hit the bushes but they don't hit him. I guess they were bulletproof bushes. - David

Why does Arnie go around blowing up a compound that his daughter is in? He was never told what building she was in, couldn't he have blown her up in the process? - David

When Arnie is captured by the police, Rae fires a missile at the truck he is in to save him. Why on Earth would someone try to save their friend by firing a missile at the truck they are in? - David

When they blow up the boat near the start of the movie, as it pulls away, you can see the detonation wires (they don't blow it up with remote control as they want you to believe) - jpb

When Arnold escapes out of the airplane and lands in the marsh (which I doubt anyone would survive since he's traveling over 100mph, but anyway...) he starts the countdown function on his watch and it beeps for each second, yet we don't here the beeps ever again. - floyddog
During the slaughter towards the end of the movie, Arnie aims to the right, from out of the jungle. Soldiers are clearly seen mistiming their deaths on the left of him. - Matt S

When Arnold kidnaps Rae and steals her car to chase after on of the bad guys, at the end of the chase the crashes into a tree. The both of them aren't wearing any seat belt, but amazingly they both stay on their seats. (TV) - Soulman

After Arnold has just drop a bad guy off a cliff, he and Rae takes the bad guy's car which is on it's side and all dented up. When he brings the car down on all fours, no dents. (TV) - Soulman

When Arnold is storming the compound his daughter is being held at, he plants explosives beside several buildings. When the explosives are detonated the buildings explode from the inside. - Todd Stewart

Not sure about this one, I saw this movie some time ago, but I remember when the girl ask for help on the radio of the plane, she says a different number than the license of the plane. - BiK

Arnold has too many guns at the last part. A man can't have 1349084 guns. - JDH83

This is no ordinary man - we're talking about Ah-nold, who can never have too many guns on him.

(Crew/equipment visible) When Bennett drops Matrix (Arnold S.) off at the airport, you can see the camera crew in the reflection in the window of the car he drives off in. (TV) - Webmaster

(Continuity) When Matrix drives the little red car, he hits a van with the back of the car causing a hubcap to fall off. In the next shot the hubcap is back on. (TV) - Webmaster

(Continuity) When Matrix gets on the seaplane at the docks some bad guys fire at it, bullets hit the plane leaving bullet holes around the entrance door. Later on when Matrix gets off the seaplane, the bullet holes are gone. (TV) - Webmaster

(Continuity) When Matrix puts on all his commando gear, he has a pair of binoculars around his neck. In the next scene when he walks up a hill the binoculars hang at the height of his balls. Later on the binoculars are gone altogether. He could have ditched them, though. (TV) - Webmaster

(Crew/equipment visible) When Arnold is leaving the mall, he backs up to chase the guy, you see the cameraman's reflection in the car door. - GringoMike

(Revealing mistakes) When Rae shoots the rocket launcher the wrong way into a parked car trying to save Matrix from the police van, there's no recoil from the launcher, but when she shots it the right way she falls back from the recoil. - padextra

(Factual errors) When Matrix gets in his truck at the start of the movie (which has had all it's wires and brakes cut) and it is "rolling" down the hill with the "engine off" to chase the bad guys - you can see the brake lights come on a few times and at the end of it's journey you can see grey smoke coming out of the exhaust (as opposed to lots of brown dust). - Russ

(Continuity) When Arnie crashes his truck following the kidnappers he's out and running almost before the crash settles.

(Continuity) When arnie goes into the garden shed before the soldiers shoot at the shed to clear it, u see him take off his vest cause hes shot. He has black camoflauge lines on his torso, but when hes loading up his guns when he's on the beach by the raft, he gears up, then he puts on the camo paint last. - stephen

I'm a sucker for all things 'Alien' related. They're my all time favorite SciFi creation. Yeah, I know AVP-R is coming out that day as well, but I gotta get these two. I'll rent AVP-R and see if it's worth the purchase. I already own the first one on BD, so the deal on Amazon isn't really helping me in that regard.

Movie Goofs For Comando:

I didn't see the goof where he is able to hold down the trigger on an AK for two minutes and never run out of ammo. 600ish rpm and a 30 round mag.

Oh, the 80s. Damn you know your getting old when you remember movies being new and they were made two decades back:crying: Edit: almost 3:crying: :crying:

I haven't seen Cobra in so long I can hardly remember it. Just moved it into my queue to catch up.

There are mouse overs of Commando and Predator at AVS. They look good but won't blow your mind. Much better than the slap job Warner did on A Clockwork Orange. I just watched that and I could have sworn it was a DVD.

If you've seen the BD of Revenge, that's a good example of the quality of these two. Admirable, but not a world beater. I don't think they could look any better given the age and the film stock.

Movie Goofs For Comando:

This is exactly the reason I never cared for Commando. I knew about alot of the screw-ups listed, but some are new to me. The first one about the damaged porsche I picked up right away. There was too many obvious screw-ups for me to get into this movie. Definitely will pass this up, but Predator was fantastic.

:D Movie Goofs For Predator

If you look down the barrels of some of the M-16's you can see that there is something inside of the barrel that would prevent bullets from escaping. I'm guessing this is because these are "blank" guns. - David

When ------ gets shot through his chest, you can clearly see that he has an extended chest to accentuate the hole in it. - David

In one of the traps Arnold sets for the predator, you can clearly see that a rope moving up was clearly added later, it was practically glowing! - David

When ----- gets his head blown up, you can clearly see it is a dummy head. - David

When Blain is firing the big chaingun in the rebel base, in one scene you can see a power lead dangling from his trousers. Apparently such a gun needs something like four car batteries to run. Now, with this in mind, how is this soldier going to find a power socket in the middle of the jungle. - Shrill

In a scene where Arnold and his team are attacking this military base, he shots a high explosive round at a Russian officer. The round acts like a shotgun shell and blows the Russian through a wall. - Shrill

A long time has passed since I saw this, but I remember this scene well. Some guy impales a scorpion with a knife then crushes it underneath his boot. As his boot lowers on it you can see it crawling forwards towards his boot's toe. This means its head lines up with his toe, and its tail with his heel. Yet when he lifts up his boot that scorpion has suddenly flipped around and has its head in line with his heel and not his toe! - Jagannatha

When the Predator shoots off Carl Weather's arm, you can clearly see his real arm being held behind his back underneath his jacket when he turns side on to the camera. - orin boyd

When the commandos are shooting up the clearing where they think the Predator is, several rifles with 30 round magazines take nearly 15-20 seconds to empty, instead of the average 2.6 seconds they should take.
When Anna falls down and tries to get away from Dillon and Poncho stops her, when she gets up you can see that one of the plastic zip ties that bound her hands has come off. - Outdoorsman

When Anna escapes after hitting Poncho in the face, Dutch whistles for the men to chase her, except his mouth never moves to make the whistle sound. - Outdoorsman

When Billy stops on the log to face the predator and he takes off his jacket, they show a body shot of him, but it is definitely not his body, it's too muscular. - Outdoorsman

When Mac sees the Predator the first time after Blain has just been killed he fires off all of his rounds in his gun (not the gattling gun). Once he's done shooting if you look down the barrel you can clearly see it glowing red hot. This means the blank stopper is in there. - K-Gee

It's weird that some of the most obvious goofs are not the ones mentioned here. Iíve seen the movie on VHS, so I donít know if they corrected this on DVD version. In many of the infrared shots from the viewpoint of the Predator (essentially toward the end of movie) thereís a row of data at the bottom of the screen. Now, I can admit that his high-tech mask visor could display some info, but then Iíd expect it to be in some alien language, and not in English and plain numbers. It looks more like the settings of the infrared camera. Oops! (VHS) - St Fan

In the scene where Dillon gets his arm "removed" the Predator stabs him and picks him up, if you look at the bottom of the screen you see that a springboard picks him up. (VHS) - mike

As Anna is falling down after being hit with the butt of Dutch's rifle, you can spot someone's hand grab Anna before she hits the floor. Maybe the cameraman. Who knows? (VHS) - Jake

(Factual errors) When Billy crushes the scorpion under his boot after taking it off Dillon's shoulder, it is lying on a box or ledge, then you see through the predator's thermal vision, as he looks down at the glowing dead scorpion. How can this be when scorpions are cold blooded and have no body heat? - stephen

$10 more than everyone else

Excuse me, i beg to differ!

Region coding is good, because the studios want it.

BD+ is good, because it protects the IP of the studios and prevents stealing.

$10 is only a small premium to pay for all the blu sweetness.

BD fans do not care about extras, they pay for top-notch transfers and high bitrate encodes, and not the other fluff. Since even many high bitrate encodes fit on a BD25, especially sans extras and with DTS MA tracks (smaller than PCM), there is even no need for the option to use BD50 in many cases.

Fox titles are the incarnation of all the BD war-talking points.

I have been trained in BD rhetoric by the best and i hope it shows in this post.

(-> insert my usual line about sarcasm here <-) :D :D :D

I distinctly remember a blu choir singing the "we don't care about fluff, we don't care about extras, PQ first." song. Which always was an excuse for the lack of extras, like on many Fox discs. ;)

MikeRox
04-07-2008, 04:22 AM
Yup, but u forget nikopol, at that point 50gb was needed JUST for PQ and AQ, anything else should be placed on a second disc. Yet at the same time 50gb was better because it meant no second disc was needed even with lots of extras and in high definition (lets not forget the only reason there are SD extras is because of 30gb HD DVDs crippling them), then 25gb is fine for 99% of releases....

*dizzy confused spin spin spin wheeeeeeeeeeeee![/BD mantra]

Dang, i didn't listen well enough then.

(Just a reminder: I am Legend has a video-only filesize of ~12GB. Twelve gigabytes (http://img101.imageshack.us/my.php?image=demuxedrx4.jpg). And it is on a BD50. Check out my review, i couldn't help myself but include that little tidbit. And it gets many 5/5 pq ratings. Something smells fishy in blu-land :haha: )

MikeRox
04-07-2008, 04:48 AM
ONLY 12GB!!!!??? :O thats only about 25% of what Blu-ray can hold, therefore it should only get 1 star... Of course the reason the video file is so small is because it was made for crappy HD DVD holding back the PQ of the BD ver

Nikopol
04-07-2008, 04:58 AM
That's right. This is a picture (http://img101.imageshack.us/my.php?image=filesdi3.jpg) of the complete contents of the BD50. The two big files have the complete film each, because of the alternative ending. No seamless branching here. It's too funny.

But i guess it has nothing to do with Commando, so sorry for the :offtopic ;)
