currently i have the choice xtra package + hd access. what i was wondering is:

1. can i somehow trade in my hd receiver for a hd dvr?

2. there's really only a handful of channels i watch with the choice xtra package, would i be charged a fee for downgrading to choice? i've had their service since the end of february.

3. i also have the 3 free months of hbo and cinemax etc, i don't plan on paying for it after the three months. if i cancel it ahead of time via the internet or something, would i still get to watch the channels for the rest of the time the offer was good for? for example if it was good for 3 months and i cancelled it at the 2 month mark, would i still be able to finish out the three months?

4. we live the nba tv channel (601), what packages include this channel? if i downgrade to choice, would it still be included?

Probably, but it will cost some $$$

Don't know ?

Whatever day you call to cancel, they will turn it off at that time. Wait until the 89th day.

Go to the website and look at the package channel lineups

I don't think so. You'll have to pay an upfront lease fee. Not sure how much they are going for now. Anywhere from $300 - free. D* will just tell you to hold on to your older box. Which I recommend, because that way you'll already have an HD receiver if you decide to buy another HDTV.

You should be in the clear. There is usually only a penalty if you change it within 30 days. I'd just ask to make sure though.

You can ask them to, I have in the past. They say they'll make a note of it, but won't guarentee it'll shut off. And if it doesn't they'll end up charging you. Just like Lizard said, do it on day 89.

Actually, the NBAHD channel is a free preview until June. It's part of the sports pack. Come June you'll lose that channel unless you pay for the sports pack, which is ~$10/month.

hmm i'm trying to keep our bill the same price. so i can either downgrade to choice and get dvr or just keep the choice xtra and leave it as is. what do you guys think i should do? is it really worth it? i'm probably gonna have to cough up at least 99 bucks for it, would i be better off with a dvd recorder that's not gonna charge me a monthly fee? i also have one more question. the dvrs have 2 tuners correct? so that means i could hook up two tvs to one box? but how would that work on the second tv? would i just hook up the coax cable to the tv and change channels from there? or would i have to change channels by changing it on the main box?

DVR- Fee is 5.99 just for the option of Recording
The DVR has two tuners (two RG6) this allows you to watch on channel and record the other, it's input only.

Depending on where your second tv is located you can connect it from the composit cables or HDMI out puts of the D* DVR,

Whatever channel is showing on that box shows only on all other TV's so you have to change the channel at the DVR inoder to watch it in the other room

Clear HUH? Don't change or any change you make be ready to get out your check book, :)
