FSN blackouts -- why can't I watch games?

I paid a bit extra to get a package that included the regional Fox Sports Network channels so I could watch my Reds this year. When I first looked a couple months ago and there was absolutely no programming on these channels, I shrugged it off as they must only show games, and I'm not worried because I hate basketball.

Flash forward to today. The first televised Reds game of the season is on FSN Arizona. I set my ViP722 to record it. When I get home, no game. When I search for games (by pushing the LEFT button while not in any menus), a whole bunch of them come up. For example, the Reds game tomorrow at 6:00 on FSN Cincinnati. When I go to the guide, the game doesn't show up at that time. Blacked out, I guess? Same with every other Reds game for as long as I have programming downloaded. Probably 10 games.

Here is my confusion. I'm paying extra money for channels that show nothing but sports, but all of the sports are blacked out? What the hell am I actually paying for, what should I be seeing?

You did not list your area/dma. The pro teams have an area which can see their games, if you are not within the specific area the games are blacked out. So unless you are located in Cincinnati or close to it you will not be able to watch the Reds on rsn's. Do a search explaining 'Black outs' or 'Black out rules' to get a more in depth explaination.

Unless you live in the city where the team is located, no BB for you. DISH says it would cost YOU too much money to purchase EXTRA INNINGS package. They recommend MLB.COM for $90 a year. I wonder why they don't recommend Directv?
