I am drooling thinking about the coverage Direct is going to offer during the Masters this year. I am going to have to "work" from home so I enjoy every single minute of it.

What coverage are you refering to? I was told on this forum that ESPN would cover thursday and friday , and CBS would cover Sat and Sunday. I assume you are talking about lots of recorded history on the players and the course will be aired.....what and when ....fess up.....J

while a fan/ long time customer of DTV, watch init rounds on ESPN, followed by CBS....no better PQ than CBS OTA...if with 45 mi of digital xmitter, no need for DTV locals...great reception with $50 antenna in attic...no 44000 mile detour for the signal!

Many of us aren't within 45 miles of the transmitter. Plus this coverage with the mix channel, etc. is unique to DirecTV and should be spectacular.

I've stated this before in other posts. The Masters on CBS is absolutely awesome HD. Anyone who hasn't seen it before, is in for a treat. I can't wait.

I second that. I was simply blown away from last years coverage. If anybody is interested on how they accomplish this feat, google Masters in HD. They ran cabling under the entire course. So all a camera man has to do is plug and play.

I look foward to the mix channel as well.

I have told many people that I think the two best HD Programs I've ever seen where:

1)the masters
2)planet earth

I can't wait for the masters! Thanks for the heads up about this!

quick question about this coverage...

I live in buffalo, where direct tv and cbs have some sort of disagreement and as a result I don't get cbs in HD. I have been meaning to get an ota, but haven't yet. Will the cbs coverage in the later rounds be in HD on these special channels?

thanks!
steve

There will be a mix channel, interactive channel, 4 SD channels and 4 HD channels. These will be located in the channel 701 to channel 710 range.

Within the groups of 4 channels, the first screen will be live coverage of the tournament from ESPN/CBS; screen two will offer a continuously updating loop of the day's best shots; screen three will offer coverage of holes 11,12 and 13; and screen four will focus on holes 15 and 16.

Will everyone be able to get the first two screens, even if they do not get CBS locals or CBS DNS service through DirecTV?

If you have a mpeg-4 HD setup, you will be able to see everything from the CBS HD feed on one of the 700 channels, even if you don't get CBS through OTA or Directv.
