Washington, D.C. (March 28, 2008) -- Comcast is adding nine new High-Definition channels in the Sacramento, California area.

That's according to an article by The Sacramento Bee.

To make room for the new HD channels, Comcast is moving the public service California Channel from an analog to digital channel, the Bee reports.

This will require subscribers to get a digital set-top to watch the channel, although they will not have to upgrade to a more expensive digital cable package.

Comcast is adding the following HD channels in Sacramento: Discovery Channel, HGTV, USA Network, Food Network, Sci-Fi Channel, TLC, ABC Family, Disney Channel and Discovery Science.

The Sacramento Bee writes that the nine channels will be added on Monday, with the exception of ABC Family, Disney and Discovery Science, which will launch on April 8.
