Satellite dish question from Michigan

Ok, here's my question:

I currently have a Dish 1000 satellite dish on the roof. I subscribe to America's Top 250 and the Dish HD Essentials packages so I need to see the 110, 119, and 129 satellites. Whenever it rains here, even the lightest rain, I seem to lose my signal too easy. My main question is this: I've seen pictures of people having a two dish setup, one pointed at the 110 and 119, and one pointed at the 61.5. I would like to go this route if it's possible in Michigan, but I need to know the best/cheapest way to go about it. Should I contact Dish or should I contact the contractor company that dish uses in my local area that came and hooked up my vip 722 receiver and which way is cheaper. Thanks in advance! :):D

In my case, I am in Southern California, and I have the "1000.2" dish with a 622 receiver...

Same here as far as rain goes... Not that it rains often, but when it does, my signal is affected. Mostly HD, but if it's really heavy, I can loose all signal.

I too have heard mentioned on this board setups that include two dishes. My suspicion is that I would have to but the 2nd dish, and pay to have it installed. Especially since the "problem" in my case is VERY sporadic... Thanks for your input~ :hithere:

I am in SE Michigan and when I called about HD they said they may have to install two dishes. They didn't have to in the end but I had the same reservations about additional costs if the second dish had to be used and was told it is common and would not add to the installation cost.

Pick up a Dish 300 or a Dish500 off ebay, move 129 lnb to the new dish, hook it up, aim it, run checkswitch - bingo.

I did the 2 dish thing when I upgraded last summer to get the best LOS to 129. Would've used 61.5 but Fox Sports Detroit/HD was (is?) only available on 129. NOW the Flint locals/HD are lit up on 61.5 ONLY.
