Recording A Series on HR20-700

I have a HR20-700 and I want to record a series. In the guide, I hit the record button once and the R shows up, but when I hit it a second time, the R is gone.

Also if I use the INFO button and hit record series, none of them will record.

Example, next week Battlestar Galactica is on the SciFI channel. It is running from like 8am to 5pm. The only way that I can record all the shows is if I hit the record button on everyshow. Make sense? Is there something that I have set up wrong to prevent my box from record the whole series? The same thing is Elite XC on showtime. I can not set my box to record it every time that it is on even if I have it set to record both First Run and Repeats. Thanks in advance.

There may be more ways than this, but here are two methods.

1. Find the show you want to record in the guide, and highlight it with the yellow cursor by moving the arrows surrounding the yellow Select button. Once the show is highlighted, press the yellow Select button once. This will bring up a list of four options on the left side of the screen (Record Once, Rec. Series, Episodes and Done). Move the yellow cursor down to Rec. Series and depress the Select button. This will bring up another screen on the right side of the TV and the Record Series will be highlighted by the yellow cursor. You also have the option of recording the Episode Type (Both, First Run or Repeats). That should do it.

2. Press the Menu button (below the bottom cursor arrow). Scroll down to Search for Shows and then type in the name of the show you're looking for (you can search for Title, Person, Channel, etc.). Once you get a listing of the shows you're looking for, highlight the specific one you want (be careful because the Search results will list both SD and HD listings of the same program, along with the same show on other stations that you may not be getting. Once you find the right show, highlight it and go through the same process as explained above.

As I said, there may be other ways to do this, but these are the methods that seem to work for me.

You could also try setting a manual recording from 8am-5pm.

There are a couple of possibilities. If you use the R button to set a recording, and can't get the "double R" to set up a series link, this is usually because (1) there is already a series link set for that program on that channel or (2) that the guide data does not show that program as part of a series.
You need to start by checking you do not already have a series link set up.
The guide data issue is quite common when there is a "marathon", somtimes the programs look like individual shows instead of a series. Another similar issue is that you have a series link set up but it won't record a "marathon" because it does not seem to be part of a series. A third thing to remember is that a series link will not record duplicates, so if you need to have the same program twice for some reason you have to set the second occurrence with a "single R".

Regards,

I tried both of these methods. Nether work. How ever, once I set it to record 'First Run' shows then the double R showed up. It must not see it as a series. If someone else wants to try and record Battlestar Galactica next week and tell me if the same thing happens to you. Thanks for all you time....
