HR20 problems

Does anyone keep a list of the known HR20 bugs? I have several that are very irritating, and I wish that they would fix in one of their upgrades.

1. If you are live and on HDMI, the audio will drop out unless you back up the program.

2. Some programs that are an hour long after recording will show that they are 18:56 or 13:33 long (or some other weird amount). However when playing it, when it gets to the hour point it stops as it should.

3. The to do list is totally messed up. If you have a conflict that is preventing a program from recording one that you want, and you go in and remove the offending program it still does not record the one that was not recording even though it is in the season pass. If you go in, and tell it to record that program again from the to do screen, it not only will not set it up to record, but instead removes it from the todo list entirely (before telling it to record it will show up, but with the symbol indicating that it will not record). This is very frustrating, because then you have to go and search for the program, find it, and tell it to record it AGAIN!
4. Svideo's sync signal has some type of problem, where the picture will often jump completely out of the frame, displaying only half of so of the picture off to the right, and to fix requires changing channels, or unplugging and plugging the svideo back in again. I had thought this might be a problem with the DVD recorder input, but swapped recorders, and the problem persisted.
5. It is impossible to search for some programs (if they have any non-alphanumeric characters in the), and searches often completely miss programs that you can see in the guide, but the search does not find.
6. There is a limit of 50 programs to record each showing of, that is the season pass is limited to 50 programs.
7. If your program list of programs is full, that is 50 of them, it is impossible to turn off the recording of a program you decided to record earlier, but changed your mind. The only way to do it is to find a conficting program, tell it to record it, then tell it to cancel the other recording when it asks. But then you are right back where you started with a program being recorded, that yo do not want and cannot be cancelled.

Some of these are bugs, but others are not.
1. If you are live and on HDMI, the audio will drop out unless you back up the program.
** This is a known and well-reported bug. The latest software release in test seems to fix it. A temporary fix is just to very briefly pause the live program, you don't need to back up

2. Some programs that are an hour long after recording will show that they are 18:56 or 13:33 long (or some other weird amount). However when playing it, when it gets to the hour point it stops as it should.
** Seen some other reports of this but it has never happened on my HR20-100, HR20-700 or HR21-200

** I think you may not be waiting long enough for the to-do list to repopulate. It can take several hours, sometimes longer, for the to-do list to pick up the recording that had previously been missing.

** Have definitely not seen this one, and have never seen it reported. Try connecting the DVR directly to the TV and see if the s-video problem is still there.

5. It is impossible to search for some programs (if they have any non-alphanumeric characters in the), and searches often completely miss programs that you can see in the guide, but the search does not find.
** For some reason search is still a work in process on the DVRs. The latest test software is much improved and I expect these improvments will be in the next national software release

6. There is a limit of 50 programs to record each showing of, that is the season pass is limited to 50 programs.
** This is not a bug, it is the programmed limit. Most people think it's too low, but that's the way it is.

** I think you must be doing something wrong here. If it is an individual episode, just delete it from the to-do list. If it is a series link, just delete it from the list of series links.

The problem I have is that only 5 episodes of one program are saved. This causes problems when there is a marathon of one program and 10 in a row are broadcast only the last 5 are saved the others are erased.

You need t customize your season pass. the default is for the DVR to record and keep only 5 episodes at a time. You can set it to record adn store 10 or all episodes.

I changed the default to store 10 episodes and it still stores only 5.
My recording defaults read as follows
Episode type---Both
Keep at most--10 Episodes
Keep Until------I Delete
Start-----------On Time
Stop-----------On Time

I don't think it is user error!

Reset your system (little red button) and it should pick up the 10 episode change.

If you change the default that will only apply to new series links. The ones you have already set up will use the default value that was in the system at that time (or the one you set up manually at the time).
You have to go back and edit each of the old series links individually. It really can't work any other way.

OK, I did the reset button thing and I did the individual program thing and it still only records 5 episodes.

Any other suggestions???

Reporting back.

It worked!!!!

You have to delete the season pass and reenter it in order to have the new defaults take effect.
