My daugther has a tivo and two receivers. She get her local but don't get anything else. It look like the multi-switch in phase III dish might have gone out.(Can't get 101 Sat) Can I get to it to change it out? If so can I purchase the one I need from CC or BestBuy or who every local? Just as a note I didn't get to look at much when I was over at her house but I did note that transponder 12 on 101 I got strong signal like 85, is this telling me anything? Most other transponder was very low or nothing. At least the ones I got to look at.

Doubt if it is the multiswitch. More likely a LNB. In any case you will probably have to buy a new dish as I've never seen the components available separately. The dish assembly is about $100:

This is my daughter house. I slept on it last night and came up with one thought hope by chance I might be right. She started having pixelation on one of her receivers couple of weeks ago and the tivo went out yesterday. Line of site is good, but she has oak tree branches directly above the dish. the web worms are bad here hoping maybe the 101 is covered with web will have to check it out when I get a chance to get back other there.

Was this a winter installation, maybe done when the tree was bare? If so, line of sight might be part of it.

Was it a professional install? If not, check the online instructions for alignment.

Otherwise, that dish has all (3) LNB's and the multiswitch as one part. If the dish is relatively new, it might be under warranty. Otherwise it might be cheaper to buy a new dish with LNB/multiswitch than just the LNB/multiswitch part.

It was a professional installed but that don't mean a lots sometime.
It's 30 days out of warranty Directtv told my daugther. 4 months from install. No tree or anything clear line of site. I thought web worms might have done something but just check it out and lnb had nothing on it.
What get me is that some of the transponders on 101 has strong
reading. 1 thru 5 0 signal strength. 12 and 20 read 86. All others read from 0-to 36 intermittant.
Just has a brain storm. If the multi-switch is bad and not really switchng am I getting the strong reading of 12 and 20 transponder off of 110 or 119?

edit my last post that was transponder 8 and 12 that has strong signal and in looking d* uses those transponder on 110. looks like it probably is the multi-switch. Somebody tell me I am wrong if I am not looking at it right.

Even if it is the multiswitch, the fix will be to replace the dish.

Gotcha.

Most likely it is the LNB more so than the multiswitch. Why do you suspect the multiswitch?

Sometime I get way out in left field. I was inform over on the
Satellite Guy forum that my local's(Austin,Tx) was on the 101 Sat also and if that is the case then maybe I need to check the alignment of dish. rbinck can you tell me where I can get listing of what is on what tranponder of 101,110 etc. Thank for all the insight. I have E* myself but have a SA tivo and will be going to D* in the near future just because the love of tivo.

Everybody for the help. It was just a not so good install. When it was install the highest signal the installer got was 85. I finally got upon roof and there was loose bolt etc. After tighting bolt and readadjusting I am now getting the signal strength to peak at 95 or above.
