I have narrowed my choices to a couple of models. The net cost of the Pioneer Elite is $2705.00. The Panasonic model net cost is $2300.00. Could some one please help shed some light on your recommendations? I realize that the Pioneer Elite is 720P and the Panasonic model is 1080P. Are there any other models that would be better options at this price range?

I suspect the new 800/850 releases in late Spring to be a better match to the 1150. Especially in the area of picture controls.
But the pannies are still a good buy today, and one of the best all around plasma displays you will find.

If you can afford it, get the Pioneer. It does have better black levels. Good on yeah for knowing that better resolution doesn't equal better picture quality. The masses still think otherwise. That said they are some of the best plasma's on the market. You can't go wrong with either, but if your a videophile I'd go with the Pioneer. I did :] [just the non-elite model, I'm not filthy rich just yet]

If you are a gamer or plan to connect to a computer-- get the TH-50PZ85. Both will give outstaning performance on HDTV / DVD / HD media -- but for a computer and/or game the added resolution will be of significant value.

I got the Pioneer PDP-5080HD this week (720p). Holy cow what an incredible picture, better than the Samsung 4669 I had before which is 1080p. Contrast ratio makes a huge difference.
