it took me WEEKS of reading and researching on the web.
There is no such thing as the best... it is all in the eye of
the beholder and bullsh-t artists.

READ READ and then READ some more on the web.

Go to Amazon dot com and search for HDTV and then
READ the Customer Reviews for each TV you may be
interested in.

Don't believe one expert...
some spew forth just to be noticed... others simply
want attention and so they spew forth.

Again. R E A D and research on the web...
then GO to a big TV store and see the junk...
then go home.... (take notes at the store!).

Get the right size you need... you dont need a
60 inches in an average livingroom

I bought the Sony 40 inch LCD 720rez...
model Sony KDL40S3000 and am very satisfied.

All i need... thrilled matter of fact.

Go here to start your massive research...
http://www.screenmath.com/
and
http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/learningcenter/home/tv_flatpanel.html
CHANGE subject in the right-column...
LEARN !

If you're going to splooge on a fat-chunk of money,
take your time... use your head.

yep it all comes down to your opinion on picture quality and also features. Maybe the sharp has a certain feature that the LG doesn't but then the LG might have a brighter and sharper option in the menu settings. Or perhaps the Sharp has more hdmi inputs than the LG if you're looking for that sort of thing.

I had researched all the tvs as well as return policies at local stores for about 7 months before settling down on the one that I got which was a 37" vizio vx37L from costco.

:huh

Errr....I think you meant "splurge"..."splooge'' is not the proper term to use there, for many reasons.

reading is fine if you want to purchase the product that the reviewers liked best. You may find out about the quirks of a particular set, but not if you like it or not. Personally, I would find the two sets locally and take a peek at them. Be sure to fiddle with the pq adjustments to see if you like the way they work.
