Wow!! I can't believe they gave it a favorable review. Should have gotten the same score last year. Well for all you baseball fans this is for you. Especially you Sobay!!! I can't wait until Tuesday.

I played the demo. I am definitely not a baseball fan, but this game is awesome. The graphics are great (EA should take plenty of notes) and the commentary is outstanding (take more notes).

Can this game somehow make the Reds not suck?

well, see, now you are asking for an act of God. Games developers can do some amazing things, but I'm not sure they can pull that off. ;)

I'm still on the fence. i'm not big on how IGN scores sports games. I remember them hyping NBA live a few years back. well that version sucked hard. the IGN gave NBA 2K a horriable review but every other site gave it the best basketball game ever made stamp.

this lead to IGN hiring a new sports reviewer who likes to focus on just sports titles. well his reviews have been no better which has lead to the 2nd take boxes found after the closing comments.

hell a few years ago IGN gave Madden a great rating 2 years in a row when it was clearly horriable. they seemed to like how arcade the game was.

I'm going to wait for www.operationsports.com and www.gamespot.com before i change from 2k baseball, which i will be happy to walk away from. last year was an improvment but that's not saying much. it was a playable game of baseball after 6 months of tweeking the A.I. but dam that's way to long. then came that whole the game froze because an update screwed over my franchise. man i was not happy with that at all.

I just read that that online portion of the game is laggy and unplayable.. Anyone have a chance to run a game online?

Crap. Last year's version had a shitty start with their online gameplay too. Then eventually they worked it out.

The good thing is that I think it supports the headset this year. Also as far as online play goes, they had to release a patch last year to fix the lag issues. My buddy already picked it up and said it was awesome. He gives it a 9 out 10.

I played about a 4 inning game with a friend of mine. Right now it's a little laggy with some framerate issues. It plays better out of the gate than Mlb 07 The Show played until they patched it. There was about 4500 people online last night. Sony had a message on there last night saying they didn't realize the game was going to be as popular as it is & they are addressing the issues. Take that for what it's worth. As of now there is still no headset support. My friend & I both have usb headsets and we couldn't talk. That sucks. So that's about all I can report right now. Offline is fantastic. Weekly roster updates every Monday during the season & more MLB news daily than you can shake a stick at. Custom soundtracks are pretty cool. Any other questions feel free to ask. Hope that helps.

no headset support, man that blows hard. playing sports games online and being able to trash talk is maybe the best part of the game. i love being able to talk trash to my buddies as i own them and have back and forths with some scrubs. i love playing people who only know 1 thing, give the ball to kobe and go for 100pts. man i love talking trash and pointing out blocked shots and shooting percentages.

also when playing basball online i love striking out the opposing player and getting into some trash talking. plus it's great talking baseball in general while playing it.

sony really needs to pickup that feature. i know i could not go without it. i guess it's a good thing i ended up with 2k8. it's improved over last season but i'm sure many will prefer the show. i'm tweeking the A.I. so 2K8 is becoming more playable. plus the pitching feature is great.

hey i got a question,

how well does the motion control work with the show? how does it work with pitching? man it would be great if it was like that commercial,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bh3XDMzcdtU

man everytime i think of "the show" i think of this commercial. it cracks me up even more now that it's baseball season again.

The motion control is only for sliding & I believe jumping. I have never tried it so I really don't know how well it works. That commercial is funnier than hell. For some reason I always think of The Show too even though you can't bat like that. Try the demo on PSN. You have a PS3, give it a shot. I downloaded the demo for 2k8 this morning on the 360. I think it's better than last year. I think people are bitching because of the learning curve with the new pitching. I gave up 4 homers right off the bat. Once you get it down it's probably not that bad of a game. I still might score on it.

I don't see a HR Derby game mode. There isn't one, right? Or am I just blind?

Unfortunatly, there isn't any HR Derby or batting practice mode this year. The ps3 version has never had one, I think other versions have, but they don't have them anymore, either I'm told. I really would like some mode where you can practice hitting.

That's probably my only complaint is the lack of a home run derby or mini games. Those are great when you have a friend over or just want to hit some balls.

Strikuh, what skill level are you playing this on? Or for anybody else who has the game.

I'm on All-Star, but after 5 games I am 5-0. I swept the Giants in 3 and won the first 2 games of my series against the Pads. So these aren't great teams I'm playing, and I'm not blowing them out, but I'm wondering if I should just up it to Hall of Fame mode. Generally speaking, the level before the hardest seems to be the most realistic. Especially with Madden and NBA 2k8.

So, let me know what you're playing on! :)

I'm playing on veteran. I'm currently playing my spring training games to get a better feel for the batting. Currently I'm 0-2. Lost 2 straight to the Astros. Of course I'm using my Tribe (Indians). The scores are close. I've only managed to go yard once with Peralta. I think my problem is (and always has been) having patience at the plate. I'll probaly stick with veteran just like last year. The game is more than challenging for me (I probably just really suck). I bought 2k8 for the PS3. Let's just say I'll be trading that in on RSV2 on the 19th. I also started RTTS. Pretty cool mode.

Do you find yourself guessing high fastball a lot? That's a habit I'm trying to break.

Also, we gotta get a game in sometime. I guess we'll wait until they fix the choppy lag play online.

I find myself guessing alot & Wrong. That high heat is a mofo. The 12-6 curve really screws me. Yea, we definitley need to get a game in. Do have a headset? My usb one I've using since Socom on the PS2 finally died last week. Can't complain though, it lasted 6+ years. Ordered a new one off Amazon over the weekend. $24.99 with a $20 rebate. Final cost $4.99. A logitech no less. Should be here by the end of the week. In the meantime I've been using my Blu tooth one I received with Warhawk. I prefer usb though.

Although I'm not sure if it supports chat, but I read somewhere if you hold down the L3 you can talk. You need to get a Dualshock 3 bro. The rumble really adds to the game.
