Well, my DLP stopped functioning about two weeks ago and i fugured it was a bulb since its a toshiba. Turns out the power supply is fried and it was suggested to me by the tech to get a better surge protector/ power conditioner.

Im looking for suggestions on what to get.

So far im looking at these two from monster:

for $150

for #120

I know there has to be better models out their with better price points. Anyone have any suggestions?

#1 Don't waste your money on anything Monster makes because you can buy the equivalent or better at lower prices.

#2 Check out the current post that discusses this - a UPS is better than a surge protector. http://www.highdefforum.com/showthread.php?t=12959&highlight=UPS

Well, sometimes power supplies just "go bad".

Without some evidence, there is little reason to believe that a "better surge protector/power conditioner" could have prevented it, or will prevent it in the future.

Just trying to keep it simple and avoid unnecessary expense.

Consider: there was a thread here during the last few weeks by a guy who is complaining that his Monster brand surge protector has caused three HDTVs to fail - go figure.

dont waste ur money man...get a 40 dollar APC model and make sure to run ur cable, ethernet and phone lines through it as well if they are plugged into the same outlet. Any half decent surge protector will do its job and give you a stable power source.
