RCA L46WD22, HDMI problem

02-04-2008, 09:45 PM
I recently bought a RCA 46" LCD TV. I switched to Dish Network and got the HD reciever. When the HDMI cable hooks up to the box and TV, I get a "Unuseable Signal" error on my screen. Sometimes the picture will come up no problem (like Sunday, during the Superbowl) and sometimes like tonight, nothing. It did pop on for 1 second and then gone. I had Dish come out and they swapped receiver and still the same problem. I switched out the HDMI cable, same problem. The TV is 3 weeks old. If I connect the red, yellow and white cables, I get reception, but not HD. The HDMI cable I got was a 3ft, version 1.3a, Phillips. It is very sporadic and frustrating. Any ideas???? Thanks

Most likely a "handshake" issue between the STB and TV because of HDCP.

First, try using Component cables. This will pass HD as well as HDMI.
note: never use composite (yellow/red/white) this will give you the worst possible picture.

If the Component connection solves your problem then, if you still wish to use HDMI, talk with Dish and RCA to see whose "fault" it is.

Well, today I went and exchanged the television. Brought it home and powered it up. It came up immediately in HD. Then I switched to a SD channel and it did the same thing, Unuaseable signal message. Doing the same things. I have swapped out the HDMI cable, DIsh Network HD box and the television, TWICE. What is going on????? Any input geatly appreciated. Thanks

I have been seeing this problem as well.. I have the exact model RCA tv with Time Warner HD box. I have been using the composite cables..

(R,G,B) .. with no problems .. but i decided to use HDMI, so went out and paid 40$ for an HDMI cable.. and it worked for a few weeks.. now it keeps going to "unusable signal" .. and now it says " your tv does not support HDCP " ... why all of a sudden now it doesn't support HDCP .. when earlier it did..

if this is a problem with the TV , I will return it... as it is being rented through Aarons and they have a full warranty as long as the tv is being rented through them... :what: :eyecrazy

I have a digital coaxial cable from the tv to a audio reciever. When i watch a regular analog channel i get audio from the tv on the reciever. When i get to a digital channel i dont get audio out of the tv. Does anyone else have it hooked up and experiance the same issues.
