Hey Everyone,

I would like to connect my cable box to my pc so I can watch tv through my pc at the best possible resolution. My cable box is Hd with dvi and s video outs. My pc has different connections but I am confused as to which are ins and which are outs such as hdmi, s video, vda, ICCC, coax. It came with a tuner and all that, I just need to know which cables to buy?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated,

John

Well you have a bit of a problem here. Your PC came with a tuner card that is intended to pick up over the AIR or Analog cable. Since you have a cable box I'm going to assume you have Digital cable (like most people now days). This means your TV tuner card canot decode the cable signal. If you take the cable that runs into the box and spit it (1 for the cable box and one for the PC) you should be able to view analog cable on the PC. The second option maybe to hook up the cable box directly to the monitor (no pc involved) but this would require that your monitor supports the ouput resolutions of the monitor (I've never tried this my self, but I can't see a reason why it wouldn't work). I think your best bet would be the first option, split the cable going into the cable box and run it to the PC, while it won't be digital or HD you will still be able to watch TV on your pc.
