Q: regarding local channels in High Def

I recently upgraded to HD beacuse I found out I could get CBS, ABC, NBC and Fox in HD via the sat signal.

Only I didn't realize that only a very few select programs were actually broadcast in HD.... :( I thought it was going to be HD 24/7.

Had I known that only 1 or 2 programs a night were going to be in HD, I probably would have waited until more HD programming was available...

My Question: are the local channels, if you get them via an off-air attenna, offering more programming in HD? Are they HD 24/7?

No, the OTA channels are the same, not much HD broadcasting yet. Directv is giving you exactly what the OTA signals are provided!

I have actually been quite impressed with the number of primetime shows offered in HD. Seems like almost all the major comedies (According to Jim, Two & a Half Men, Faith & Hope, etc) and dramas (Lost, Alias, West Wing, CSI, etc.) are in HD. And in Raleigh NC, our local news is in HD...awesome! It will only get better. Just be thankful that you live in an area where you can get all four major networks' national feed. In Raleigh, we can only get ABC and NBC via Directv...the local CBS and Fox affiliates are holding out.

REALLY! Now that really something! I wish the local new here in ATL, GA get their act together and broadcast thew local news in HD! I mean, it does look 10000% better! Maybe they dont want us to see all that make-up the women wear!? It might be a beast up under that stuff!!!!

There are quite a few local newscasts in HDTV around the country, unfortunately Houston is not such a place.
