Manual HDMI switch

01-15-2008, 10:03 AM
Has anyone had any experience with the manual swithes for HDMI? I've used an A-B switch for coax switching and it worked really well; not so sure about manually switcing digital bitstreams. It seems to be an inexpensive way to solve the problem of having only 1 HDMI input on a TV while avoiding the compatibility issues that sometimes seem to happen with electronic switching. Thanks for any input!

They are available and they work.

Try looking here: http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10110

Great!! Thanks so much! Do you know if cables from these guys are any good, as I'll need a couple and might as well get 'em from the same folks that have the switch.

Yes, many people on this forum and others have purchased these $7 HDMI cables from monoprice. The are vey good and work great. Rarely do I see a complaint.. Oh, and they also have a 4x1 HDMI switch with remote for only $39. If you need more than 1 addition HDMI port (now or down the road) and are lazy like me, it may be worth the extra Jackson...:D

Ditto on the cables from mono.

I've purchased from them, both component and HDMI and very pleased.
I have never read a complaint about either quality or service regarding Monoprice cables.

The only issue I have ever heard is (unfortunately) regarding one of their swithces, but it was well resolved. See here for background: http://www.highdefforum.com/showthread.php?t=55523
