hey fellas, great forum, i need you to talk to me like i'm ignorant(which i am, by the way):D

I'm really happy so far with the LT-37X668. To be honest, i'm not sure how to start to get it fine tuned so that i can get the most out of it. I'll be watching sports and gaming on ps3 mostly.

I was just hoping someone could give me a good starting point for picture settings etc. I don't even understand some of these choices when it comes to aspect, dynamic gamma, smart picture, color management, etc.

So far i think this set looks great. Perfect size for the room also. I can't wait to play the ps3 on it, but that's my sons christmas present.:D

Also, it seems i notice a little graininess, i'm thinking i don't have something set right. I'm using the component cable instead of hdmi for my HD cablebox. TimeWarner cable claims it will look just as good. Is this true? I notice graininess/small distortion. An example would be the bottom HUD on ESPNHD. Theres some pixelation, it doesn't look crisp and smooth.

I don't know about your TV but my Panasonic plasma came with instructions on how to set the different settings for optimum picture quality .

If that is not available to you then you can look into buying or renting a disc that shows you how to calibrate your flat panel (there are several).

Also the graininess might be because of the signal quality you're getting and not the TV's fault, some signals just are not as good as others.
