HD channels freeze

I just got my HD receiver yesterday through Wide Open West...aka WOW! On my Samsung HLT5075s, the picture is absolutely amazing. I have it hooked up with component cables and I noticed on a couple of channels...namely ESPN and ESPN2...the picture will freeze for a few seconds while the audio continues. Over a five hour period I saw this happen three or four times. While I'm sure it's not a major issue...I'm just wondering why it's happening. I have an HDMI cable being delivered sometime this week. Will that help with the freezing issue or is that more a problem with the cable company?

It's most likely a problem with the cable company. Either signal strength or an issue with the cable box.

HDMI cables and Samsung tvs are more of a problem than just keeping your component cables with audio. So I think that's not your problem and when you hook up the HDMI (I recommend not to do it, but try if you think you'll like it better) it won't fix it.

You don't say what brand of STB you have, but if it's Moto go into it's set up and be sure HD is set to 1080i. And if it keeps freezing, reboot it by unplugging it for a few minutes and replugging.

Most likely, your problem is a signal issue and if it continues you may need a booster or newer cable thru your attic.
