Panasonic PT50LC14

I just recently purchased this set. Does anyone have any advice for the settings? I am new to large sets and have no idea how to calibrate.

This is the LCD version and it seems I have posted it in the wrong section.

You're in the right forum-you have a RP LCD. Some DVDs such as Star Wars have a THX video optimizer that can walk you through some picture settings. Or, you can purchase a calibration CD that will be more in-depth. I've just tried the former so far, I purchased the baby version of your TV, PT-43LC14, a couple of weeks ago and am enjoying my new toy. I do suspect that it needs additional attention, and an HD signal to be truly stunning.

Thanks. I like it so far. I have HD but only a few channels as that is all my cable company offers.

I just want to tweak the set to maximize its capabilities. I will check out that THX optimizer.

If anyone has any advice for this set it is much appreciated.

My friend has the exact same set, but his split screen picture fills the whole screen. Mine has a line on the top and bottom. How can that be? My friend's set is at least a year old now, I just purchased my set. Why can he use the full 50 inches for split screen while I get a black line on the top and bottom?

I just want to tweak the set to maximize its capabilities. I will check out that THX optimizer.FYI, using the THX optimizer that is on certain DVD's might give you a baseline but may not be accurate due to differences when the DVD's are transferred. My recommendation is to pick up DVE (Digital Video Essentials) for $20 for consistent calibration.

I have the Panasonic 43 with integrated HD tuner. I can't get a decent skin tone no matter what I do with the color settings. There is an orangish hue in the shadows, and when I adjust the tint to make it go away it changes the foreground skin tones. Any suggestions before I take it back?
