I want to spend from $500-$600 on a new HDTV for my room (watching movies and ill hook my computer to it). Right now, i have an old CRT and a 32" Widescreen make the size of the picture of regular channels the same size as mine now. So, i want to stay near 32". I have $500-$600. I read a review here saying the Olevia 232T was good. Would this be a good choice? Any other suggestions? I would like options, so I can hopefully find one i can pick up at my Local Circuit City or Walmart. Thanks

Honestly....

Stay away from Olevia, Element, Westinghouse, Etc....

Go with SHARP, Samsung, Sony, Etc....

At the very least get a Vizio. Yeah you might be happy with a crappy off brand but IMO I wouldn't be and I don't think most people would be.

Save the extra money and get a decent set. You wont regret it.

I disagree with the Olevia comment. No question that Samsung, Sony, Toshiba, Sharp make better LCD displays, but you pay dearly for them in comparison.

I compared the Olevia in the store and tuned each display to the best PQ I could get with my eyes only, and the Olevia looked better than the Vizio, and it looked better than the Philips also.

Toshiba, Samsung & Sony were on the other side of the isle so the comparison was not as easy, but the question is whether you want to pay 60% more for a 5-10% better PQ at the most.

I bought the Olevia 247 47" model and ran the screen tests on the HD DVD version of DVE and it looked great after calibration.

Actaully, i think ive decided on a Vizio vx32L. Before i even read ur post kevin, i was thinking about it. It seems like a good price. Im going to do to a store, and hopefully be abel to see the quality of a display one, or another Vizio at least.

Vizio for sure. I went to Sam's Club to look at it. I liked the quality. Then i asked my friend what TV he had, and i didn't even know but he had a Vizio 32". The same Model too. And he HIGHly recommended it.
