ya i got your live message too late last night.. I just wanted to know some realistic sliders for nba 2k8 (as we both play the same style). I know you hate playing the comp, but didn't know if you had any tweaks to the sliders to make it more real, as i do play a franchise.

Anyways, i tweaked it a bit. Not so sure about the game yet. it seemed to get better as i played more games, but i wasn't impressed with the graphics (i know i'll be in the minority there). I almost thought it was my tv or something. There doesn't seem to be enough spacing on the court to do much either. I don't know, I'll have to keep playing and tweaking I guess.

Yeah I think I played 2 games vs the cpu and didn't tweak sliders.. I know one thing though, you can't start out on All star or whatever the second to the highest difficulty is.. you'll get smoked over and over by lots of points, ya gotta start out on the default Pro.

yeah, did that... had some close games and am something like 1-3 so far. i have to turn cpu's def awareness way down to even get open looks, though. otherwise, I see no double teams and if they do double team they recover quite quickly.

Yeah, the CPU sticks to you like glue.. Gotta pass around a lot and actually run the plays they way they are made to be run.. when your guy gets off a screen you gottta get him the ball and either shoot or put on a move before the CPU recovers.. one thing I found is that the B (get open) button vs the CPU can be your best friend.

Let's get a game or two in over the weekend.. Our league is dying and I haven't played this in a while.

It just kinda died down.. I only have 5 more games to play and I'm not getting in the playoffs by any means, but I can't find any of the others to play my games w/ online anymore...
Typical shit ya know

i'm playing on superstar and i killed the nuggets by 40 in my franchise. i started it over to do a self update. i'm sick of waiting on 2k but i heard their coming with a patch next month and the roster update is coming out the same day.

as for sliders try this,

take down the cpu 3pt. and mid range shots a few notches. it sucks watching the cpu hit every open jumper no matter who is shooting it and i can only hit 50% of my open jumpers with ray allen.

also realize you have to run plays early. you have to create some momentum for your team. if you go out there and just play free it will hurt your team chemistry for that game. i usualy run plays early and get everyone going then start playing a little 1 on 1.

also if your having issues with the cpu sticking to you then you gotta learn the new system. when you watch a NBA game in person it is exactly like that. i have celtics season tickets and the space these guys get to get off their shots is so small. try changing your camera view to pana. 2 or 3. this will give you a higher view and you will be able to see the exact spacing to get off shots. at first i thought OMG i cant get open enough to get a shot. now after playing on the other camera view for a while im able to play on the default and know exactly what space i have for shots.

try up fakes early and late in games. try jab steps because that will open the game up big time. i use the jab step like my life depended on it with pierce and it gets me open jumpers or defenders over playing so i can blast by them.

move the ball around and use direct passing.

i was actualy a highly touted pg until i got hurt so i know basketball fairly well. i was never the player who could simply out jump or run someone but i know the game very well and was able to see the game 2 steps ahead. i can tell you from personal experience this game is very accurate to real the real life NBA. i have played with and against nba players and they give you nothing on D unless their simply over matched and that doesn't happen often.

Yeah, the Jabstep is my go to triplethreat move.. It usually can get you a little bit of daylight one way or the other.

thanks guys.. how do i jab step (triple threat position?) I can't remember the controls from last year and this years manual blows.

i've been playing on the 2k camera have not tried the default or pana yet, but will go check those out.

JabStep is hold RT and LT and push the Left stick towards the basket, then if the defender backs away you should have enough room for a quick jumper or you can release both triggers and push toward the basket in any direction to explode from the triple threat and drive.

nice, thanks... now its coming back to me!! how about a spin move? cant seem to do one with circular control pad motion like last year.

you can also do spins and other moves out of the jab step. basicly i like to fake defenders away from picks then use the pick for shooters. there are so many different combinations our of the position and it just makes it much more real. you can even setup a turn around fade away jumper out of that position. doing it with kobe reminds me of when jordan used to do that same move.

Spin move is diff from last year.. To do a spin move you don't hold either trigger in and you do a half circle type motion w/ left stick from ballhand around back to off hand...

alright, i'll check it all out. thanks
