Another weak ps3 port. This time the game's actually quite a big title...

PS3 Pro Evo Busted, Konami Offering Advice

I've played Pro Evo 2008 on both 360 and PS3. On 360? Sports game of the year. It's seven-and-a-half shades of fantastic. On PS3? Argh. Ungh. Argh! Awful. The game locks up. The framerate at times crawls into single-digits. Online play is busted. In short, it's a piece of crap. Konami surely knew this before it shipped, and are now being forced to address it after it's shipped, pledging that all hands are on deck working on a patch. Until then? They're offering some extremely useful advice to PS3 owners suffering from poor framerates.

Konami Digital Entertainment is aware that some players of PES2008 are experiencing "stuttering" by their machine when playing on PS3. (This does not occur on other formats). After checking the matter we have found that the problem is primarily taking place where the user is not playing the game in high definition.

The solution to this problem is to play the game on an HD TV (high definition screen).

Easy. Problem solved. Just go buy a new TV. Thanks Konami!

so much for inferior ps3 ports being a thing of the past... :o

Big title? I am guessing it's a racing game with a name like Pro Evo, but in all honesty I have never even heard of it.. If this were a title like COD4 or Assassins Creed than people would care but for a game like this, come on I think someone is just stirring the pot.

pro evo soccer is one of the biggest selling titles in europe. It will probably outsell halo 3 in europe

So yes, it's a fairly BIG title

oh a Futbol game, yeah I can see that selling big across the pond. I am sorry I should have thought about what game it was and where its audience resides..

This does not bode well for Sony since they claim to be numero uno in Europe...

gamespot and ign cite lower framerates on MOST multi-platform releases.

I don't think that the drop in framerate has much to do with processing power, but the fact that the 360 has hardware upconversion.

So while a game may be truly a 720P game, the textures and processing must be done at 1080P on PS3, while the 360 can simply process it in it's native resoltion, and upconvert it to 1080P.

Not to downplay the problem. But it was predicted at the ps3's release as a bad decision on sony's part, so it's not suprising to hear.

true, that addresses the framerate concerns, but not the lockups and online play. That suggests far deeper issues with the ps3s hardware...

How does this necessarily have to do with the Hardware?

If they're releasing a patch, it would sound to me as though the Software is the issue. Sony is not releasing an update to the firmware to make this game more playable. Konami stated they are working on a patch to fix the issues. Patches typically fix a bug within the Software don't they??

I meant that they were having to include additional software just to get the damn thing to work

The point is the excessive complexity of the ps3s architecture caused this issue.

Therefore it's bad hardware

Hey, we all know that konami is yet another anonymous no name developer with absolutely no credibility in the game industry... :roflmao: No wonder MGS4 has been delayed yet again...

I wonder if the 360 will get the superior version what that one goes multiplatform... ;)

That would be the day when fanboys all over the world commit mass suicide...
