Call of duty 4 tips

Anyone who has any tips for this game feel free to share, to start things off I`ll give a few tips I`ve picked up so far regarding online multiplayer.

1. When you kill someone always shoot some extra bullets into their body or get away from them because a lot of people use the last man standing perk to kill you after you kill them!

2. If you`re new and haven`t unlocked anything the heavy weapon class is a good all round one for most maps, does well in close quarters combat as well.

3. If you know or suspect someone is hiding behind a wall or door shoot through it. Bullets can pass through softer materials.

4. In team deathmatch your team spawns together, if someone breaks off on their own tag along and watch their back because you do well when your team wins. So if they go round a corner take a moment to watch behind them as you follow in case someone ducks out of cover to take them out.

What seemed to help me the most is just playing a lot to learn the maps. My kills increased once i knew where people generally go on each map.

Random grenade tosses ftw, and once you unlock them all the MP5 with an Acog Scope, Bandolier, Double Tap and Martyrdom is deadly.

Maybe everyone else in the world knew this but I didn't till last night. And that is if you get the 3, 5, or 7 kills in a row that allows you to call radar & airtstikes & copters, alot of times when I achieved them I would get killed before I had a chance to call the one I had achieved, & only found out last nite that you still have it EVEN if you get killed...needless to say I felt like a real dope...lol

My ranking is 37 or 38 right now, does anyone know how high these levels go???

I didn't think they could beat COD3 multiplayer, but with the ability to build you own weapons & perk package I think has made the multi player on COD4 better, cause with so many different ways to set up your package will make for alot of great gaming.

My favorite package right now is the M4 Carbine w/ Acog scope, using these 3 Perks, Bandoiler(double magazine), Stopping Power, Martyrdom(my favorite perk)

I think the Eavesdrop perk is the worst so far, or at least it hasn't done me any good.

The only weapon I have been dissappointed with is the sniper rifles. I may just need to play with them more cause I haven't too much yet. But on COD3 I was pretty tuff with one imo, but it seems like I can't kill nobody with one shot unless it is a headshot. I have hit guys in the chest & they didn't die. And I am dead meat when I am on the move with one & run into somebody.

Anyways like posted above the best tip is if you don't own this go get it, as it is an awesome game & I haven't even played the campaign yet wich I have heard so much great stuff about.

Jesus, the game hasn't even been out a week. How do you find time to get that high of rank already? Is the rank progression totally linear?

Wow, still haven't even touched on-line mode. I have been working on achievements and finishing the campaign level on veteran mode.
I heard that a lot of stuff gets unlocked when you complete the campaign mode.

I know some of the guys I have played against are deadly with a ghuilli suit and a sniper rifle because you can`t see them so they can camp
out in grass or near trees then pop off a few shots and take people out.

You`ll probably find the people you`re shooting are using perks like juggernaut perk for added strength or health, I know I do to allow me to take extra shots and since I have been using it I have got more kills because unless they get in a headshot if I am quick enough to react I can usually fire back and get them.

I haven`t been good enough online to get a uav as the best killing streak I`ve had is 3 or 4 but I only got the game on Friday.

The grenade launcher which replaces perk one is just rubbish, I prefer to keep perk one for the RPG so I can take out helicopters with it or fire it a sniper if they are pinning down my team in team deathmatch and we can`t get at them easily.

The tip about knowing the maps is good as well - actually found a few maps I am starting to get used to and know my way around which came in useful yesterday when flanking a sniper on the bloc map.

What suprises me is how many times in team deathmatch one sniper is on the roof or dug in somewhere and doesn`t check their exits or have any backup covering them.

If someone is sniping in a building really someone should stick with them and make sure no one sneaks up on them or the sniper should plant a claymore by the exits then dig in.

I`m really looking forward to getting the ghuilli suit as I know some good sniping points I would like to try.

One tip that is useful - if you kill someone in a building move from there quickly as the killcam shows them where you got them from and most times they will come after you.

Of course you can use that to your advantage sometimes, I shot someone from an upstairs room then ran down stairs and aimed down the stairs as I figured they`d come for me and was able to get another kill. However it probably wouldn`t work more than once or twice in a row before someone threw in a flashbang and a couple of grenades.

there are guys who rank higher than me. as far as time, i played about 2 hours a day till friday & then about 12 hours this weekend.
You have to score points thru multiplayer challenges mostly to move up, plus your score from each game you play is added to the total that decides your rank.

The levels go up to 55 and you have the choice of resetting them and starting over. I'm not sure if you keep your guns though.

My tips are to just keep playing and getting comfortable with different maps. I know I use the shotgun in the "vacant" map because a ton of people walk around in the main building and it's close quarters.

The other tip I have is to be quick with your aim (L1) it helps to center on a target.

The last tip I have is to finish single player first. It's very short (a little disappointing) and it gets you used to guns, aiming, etc and you travel in groups so the pressure is not on you to clear out an entire area.

My funniest kill was when I got a phone call so I sort of back in a corner and threw a C4 charge out. I figured it would buy me some time while I was talking. Anyway, this guy comes up and is just staring at the blinking light. I figured he'd walk away. He was there for like 15 seconds so I blew him up.

I have only been playing free for all. I haven't tried any of the other online modes yet. I'm not sure what to do next. I have the weapons I like and they're tricked out, but should I put them away and use other weapons to unlock rating points?

Well, for the PS3 people, my name is cherman24 if you ever wanna play.

I've only played a couple hours, and I shot up to level 10 like 1 rank per game, but the progression since then has been very slow. Haven't gone for any challenges, although I did get a few just by playing.

I haven't specifically gone for the challenges either, but I have knocked off alot of them just playing the game.
I ranked up quick at first also it seemed like but now it seems to take a bit longer, plus i play all the time with my 14 yr old daughter as I don't have 2 controllers. I think she's pretty good for her age, but she struggles as i can't hardly convince her to try the new guns we keep unlocking & then she gets mad cause she gets owned...lol, but then again I am no great player either, I just try to hold my own.

For the first 20 rankings it doesn't take that may XP points to get it but from 20 on it's a big gap of XP points from one ranking to another, and I am a 33 Ranking and from 20 on it tool longer...its a fun game though and i recommend it to anyone

Slightly OT, but this happened to me twice alreay. When logging on to play at another time, my names of my custom classes were erased. My weapons were still set up, but the names were blank. Anyone??

As for the 55 and starting over...I'm still not sure if you keep your guns, but when you start over, instead of having soldier stripes, you get other medals to identify you.

i played with this one kid and he had 40+ kills a match.

Iv seen a rank 55 but I havn't seen, or recognised, anyone who has reset their rank. I wouldnt imagine it resets your weapons as that would be crap, tbh!

Im rank 34 or something at the minute, played around 13 hours. Over half way through the single player mode on hardened difficulty.

My tips
Keep moving - never stop!
ALWAYS check around you!
Throwing random grenades can be very rewarding.
If you dont shoot someone straight off, get on with killing someone else, you'll only get shot by someone else if you stay trying to get aim on someone hiding in a building
You can use a turret gun to take down helicoptors in no time, whilst of course using RPG is great stuff too
Dont get too attached to your guns in the beginning, get points by achieving EXPERT in as many guns as you can
Be aware of your surroundings, the maps, as different weapons really can make a difference although saying that im so happy with my AK47u that im managing fine on all levels.

My favourite weapon at the moment is the AK47u, its awesome, like the Uzi but with less of a bite on the trigger, so is easier to handle.

Iv got like 20+ kills on each of my last 7 games \o/

Also teamwork is a great advantage, stay with a man as you can cover each other and if one gets killed you can pass on the message to get revenge.

Everyone uses martyrdom and it can be underestimated on the killing front - if you die alot, you kill alot. A bonus if you're having a bad game.

I LOVE THIS GAME! lol.

try useing the same weapon as much as possiable but if your not getting kills then switch it while your hiding. this way the next time you die your weapon has changed.

make sure to customize your weapons otherwise the last advice i used pretty much sucks.

sniping is very real. you actuly have to account for wind. this is not halo baby sniping is an art form. equip C4 with your sniper and when your sniping from up high set the C4 in the exit behind you.

Finally got 1000 points out of CoD4. All I can say is HOLY..HELL. I've never been so close to throwing a controller against the wall as the last mission.

People with a yellow background to their ranks are in 'Prestige Mode' where they've gotten to 55 and opted to reset to 0 again. Yes you lose all your unlocks and challenges and start them all again. It's basically a gimmick to keep people playing multiplayer for the added BS of saying youve got through it once already.

I beat it on regular but dont think I am good enough to beat it on hardened... this game is tough I have like half of the levels beat on hardened and the others seem almost impossible, I dont know how anyone can beat it all on Veteran.. The game is tough but unlocking the achievements has been fun

On this mission where you play as LT. Price, with MacMillan telling you what to do.

When you put him down behind the ferris wheel. HOW THE DIFJIFDF IS IT POSSIBLE TO COMPLETE THE LEVEL. Im playing on hardered.

About 15 men drop out of helicopters which can be killed okay, BUT then an army come around the corner and they surround you.

Id appreciate tips for this... you get down low you cant see through the reeds, you kneel and you get shot, stand you get shot, theres too many to aim at. c4 the place and blow them up - not enough c4 to kill them all. dogs attach, omg how hard is it to kill a dog i always press the button just at wrong time. i played this level for 1.5 hours dieing everytime. its completely demoralising. iv no idea how anyone has completed that level, i have trieddifferent tactics.

That is one I did beat on hardened, I placed MacMillan on one side of the ferris wheel with C4 all around him and than I start out on the ferris wheel platform. After the first two waves of baddies I move to the right side of the ferris wheel behind that shed. Than I took half cover and sniped my way to victory, occasionally pulling out my AK (I got off one of the baddies) if they got to close for comfort.

No real trick to it, just let him do his thing on the left side while you do yours on the right so no one surrounds you. you will know if they get by him if you plant the C4 correctly so you just pull out your Ak or whatever you have and do work on them and get right back into posistion. It took me 3 tries and it was tough

Do a search on youtube for 'one shot one kill' i followed what that guy did on it (i was on veteran, think he did it on hardened) although it didn't work exactly like it did for him and i had to restart several times i didn't have the colossal pain some people seemed to have with it.

There's even more 'smack me over the head' hard missions later on. Wait till you get to the russian missile base.

So I haven't played CoD4...but I followed your advice and checked out some of the videos on youtube of it.......that is the most insane thing I've ever seen. I'm pretty sure my wife's buying it for me for my b-day (Thanksgiving) so I'm pretty stoked to get to play it even if I only can play it on campaign until we get DSL someday.

I've been too hooked on MP to even finish the second level in the campaign.. I just figured out though that even tho the M4 is full auto and an unlockable gun in MP that it sucks compared to the M16.. it takes half a clip to the chest of an enemy to kill them.

i just stopped playing the actual game. i'm more into the online part. i just got iron lung so i can't wait. i kinda suck though because i have to deal with lag. i have verizon fios and it's their top plan so i bet it's my sony 60A3000 which is giving me issues and all the hdmi cables i got between the system and the tv.

360 ------- denon 4308 -----to wall plate ---------then about another 10' to the next wall plate -------wall plate to 60A3000 which is a rptv. so gee i wonder why i got lag.:o :o

How do you get lag?

I have so very few lag games its stupid! Rainbow Six was SO bad for it. Even if you're in America (im in england) i dont get lag. 1mb connection.

Plus the servers find games whereby lag dont really happen. Im sure with your amazing collection of electronics, surely you have a good broadband connection?

Well I have reached level 55 & need about 3000 points to go Prestige Mode. I don't know what to do, as it's not the guns I mind giving up so much , as the game is set up where you can be successful with any gun imo. But man will I hate to lose those perks.

Also I was wondering if you choos to go to Prestige mode, do you have to start over on all the challenges also??? As completing these challenges really help your points that help you rank up.

I see guys are now having a diamond shaped emerald next to their tag wich means they are going thru for the 4th time. Does anyone know how many times you can start over??? Surely there has to be an end where maybe they give you a special gun or perks or something.

I Brought the game thursday evening, put it on hardened mode and completed by saturday morning (I played it alot but not 24/7; I have also completed the epilogue) the game was difficult at times, especialy the ferris wheel part in Chernobyl and some parts of the Russian missle base was very freakin annoying. Now im going to try my luck on veteran mode.

But for playing online....... its another story, im pretty crap but (which annoys me because I was pretty good a COD3) i believe its due to my connection (have 1mb but another computer is using the internet at the same time) because when I shoot someone nothing happens then they end up killing me but when i watch the killcam im not doing any shooting or the shots dont land on the target but they kill me with ease. I also have my PS3 on wireless. Would it be better to have an ethernet cable instead? also please post some tips to help me I am ranked 7th and played online for around 3 hours so also recomend me weapons/peaks. Thanks.

Its sick, check the leaderboards. As of two days ago, there were people with like 8 days worth of playing and the game was only out for less than two weeks. Thats like 2/3 of your life in a 12 day period spent playing a video game.

That happens to me 100% of the time. I have TDS DSL 4meg service. If I am sitting around a corner waiting for someone that is about to run past, and I start shooting them the instant they come around the corner, I'll die and the killcam shows me standing there like a dumbass getting shot, and it doesn't register a single shot.

I'm changing my ISP this Friday. TDS sucks ass. I played on my brothers connection (charter cable) and the killcam was 100% accurate.

also for anybody who has reset their MP ranking...do you loose guns attachments etc?

I think that just means the host quit. It doesn't tell youwhen you're the host so if you quit and you are, then it shuts down the game for everyone. At least that's how I understand it.
I don't know that you can actually boot players from the game unless it's a private match.. I don't think you can.

Oh well im glad someone knows how I feel. Well I have this shitty Virgin media box (thanks alot Richard Branson), but i though one day, screw it no ones home, i took my PS3 downstairs unplugged the ethernet cable from my desktop, put it in the PS3 change the settings and see how it fairs up. Now it pretty good, my shots actualy hit them, Im not the retard on killcam who runs out like an idiot and gets blown away. Now Ive leveled up to like 24 or something but im only good on certain maps though but thanks.

Take note for PS3 users - Wireless is crap, use ethernet when possible but if you cant make sure no one is hoggin up the bandwith :)

Now it pretty good, my shots actualy hit them, Im not the retard on killcam who runs out like an idiot and gets blown away. Now Ive leveled up to like 24 or something but im only good on certain maps though but thanks.

Take note for PS3 users - Wireless is crap, use ethernet when possible but if you cant make sure no one is hoggin up the bandwith :)

yeah I hear ya. I rarely win gunfights if the other guy is shooting me too. I give up a LOT of kills because of this. But Friday I get a new ISP so problem solved.

Well, I really tried to refrain from yet another game purchase until after the Holidays, but I was in BB and saw what appeared to be the last COD4 copy of the shelf. I couldn't let it be so lonely, so I picked it up..

Wow, I only had the chance to play for about a half-hour last night but the sound and graphics are pretty amazing. Haven't tried multi-playet yet.

Well finally after having this game since the day it came out I started the single player mode. It was an awesome game to say the least but I messed up as I played it on normal mode & it only took me 4.5 hours to beat it. I wished I would have played at least a level higher.
The ferris wheel fight was pretty tough but i think the toughest was in the place with all those hallways & red lights flashing, it got pretty aggravating at times.
I definitely think it was better than COD2 & COD3 single player.

Slightly OT, but this happened to me twice alreay. When logging on to play at another time, my names of my custom classes were erased. My weapons were still set up, but the names were blank. Anyone??

As for the 55 and starting over...I'm still not sure if you keep your guns, but when you start over, instead of having soldier stripes, you get other medals to identify you.

i do know that if you prestige then you have to start over completely
ps3 name jardak22 hit me up:gamer
