PS3 Component Cables not working. . .

Hey guys,

So recently I decided to switch my PS3 from HDMI over to component cables. My TV only has 1 HDMI slot and it was needed for something else.

So I went out and bought some PS3 component cables at Best Buy, the only porblem is they don't work. I can't understand why they don't work though. I crrently use a Component YUV Selector switcher for all my component cables (Wii, 360, and now PS3) the Wii and 360 work great on it but I cant get my PS3 to work off it, or the TV. . . I tried plugging the cables directly into the TV but it was a no-go.

Usually I can power through stuff like this but I have been at it for the beter part of an hour and am at my wits end, if you can't tell. :banghead: :banghead:

Any help would be great.

Oh and the brand of component cables I got was React, if that means anything at all.

:helpme :helpme :helpme

My old Playstation 2 component cables work on my Playstation 3. Of course I still prefer HDMI

Nevermind I got it working. . .

I will add, however, that the people who made the PS3 (Sony) are idiots. Whose stupid idea was it to make you go into the menu to select which vid out option you want?

I eventually had to reconnect via my HDMI cable, go into the settings, select Component cables. The screen went black, I put in the cables and there ya have it. Works as well as it has ever. . .

Neither my Xbox, Wii, or HD DVD player requires that kind of crap. All you do is plug in either standard, component, or HDMI and it'll play. . .

*sigh*

Generally the composite cables are always on so you have a baseline to do your other settings. My PS3 arrives today so I'll have an opportunity to check it out.

I picked up a used Sony HD CRT as an upgrade for my aging 27 inch Sony SDTV and the component inputs wouldn't work! Turned out I had to go into the menu of the TV and activate them. I never had a TV where you could turn on or off the cable inputs but this TV has a control menu where each input is listed with the option to turn it on or off. What reason would anyone have to deactivate their inputs? I dunno but Sony must thought of one!

Hey, Sony isnt that stupid trust me they are pretty smart... all you have to do is hold the power button on the ps3 until the second beep then the video and audio output will automatically switch

I think the problem with your PS 3 as per you write that your cable in work properly in PS2 definitely your TV HDMI and cable is work properly. so check your PS3 HDMI port with other cable.

WTF?:what:
