Snapping sound

I just purchased a Samsung HLT5075S 50" hdtv from Circuit City.

I love the set and the picture, but the set makes a snapping sound every once in a while. Not continuious, some times after an hour or two, sometimes every half hour.

Is this an issue that I should have looked at by the repair techs?

Do you hear it on all inputs? Like when watching a DVD and TV channels? How does your audio get to the TV? HDMI? Optical? Coax?

So far I have only used the cable connection and have not run any dvds. I will run one tonight and see what happens.

Thank you for the idea. I hadn't thought of that.

It's probably just the plastic cabinet expanding and contracting as it heats up. My user manual specifically addresses this and I do hear it occasionally from my tv. It's normal.

My parents had this same issue with their 56" Samsung DLP. It turned out to be the analog sound card which Samsung replaced under warranty. Good luck.
