Echoes/Shadows in XBox HD resolution

When I enable HD reslutions on my XBox, (480p, 720p, 1080i), I'm getting faint image echoes or shadows to the right of delinations, like text or faces. This is particularly noticible in XBox media centre, when browsing through files against a white background, but it is apparent in game and video as well. I can set the screen to widescreen (480i) without issue, but as soon as I enable any HD resolution, I get this problem. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

I would try swapping the video cable out. Get back to us if that doesnt solve it.

I'm using a Mad Catz HD kit, and initially used the cables that came with that. I've also tried some generic av cables with the same result. I'll try yet another set tonight for one more confirmation.
I've got a Panasonic 50px75 plasma 1080i television.

Well, that solves it then. If a different cable didnt work, and you arent having this problem with any other hd source, AND you have tried another input on your tv (one you know works well with another hd source) and you still get the same problem, your console is broke.

it's probably the POS madcatz accessories, man.

Echoes are created by poorly shielded cables. It's probably poor shielding/grounding INSIDE the adaptor.

Try using a quality A/V adaptor.

Thanks, that's where my thinking was going. What confuses me is why would I only get this when outputting Hidef? When I use the component box in widescreen in 480i, there is no issue. I'll probably borrow a friends XBox to test with the component box, and maybe try my XBox on someone elses setup to further narrow down the issue. Thanks.

maybe get one locally, so you can return it if it's the xbox itself?

is that possible?

I'll probably buy some new component cables locally and return them if they don't work. Finding another HD kit locally will be more challenging, as I'm in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, which has around a million people. There's several local used game shops, but the HD kits are hard to come by.

I replied to you in a similar thread on another forum.

Here is the reply:

"I am having the EXACT SAME PROBLEM!

Whew! I thought it was just me

Anyway, I am using the Intec HD AV pack with my ORIGINAL xbox (not 360) with my LG DLP HDTV and whenever I choose HD resolutions in XBMC, I get these shadows that you're describing. I don't play xbox games anymore, I only use my xbox1 for XBMC so I can't comment on xbox games. But these shadows are driving me NUTS. (YES, I have the switch over to HD on the AV pack)

You can try my workaround ...

This may sound strange..but try plugging an S-VIDEO cable into the HD pack alongside your component cables and then plug the other end of the S-VIDEO cable into any S-VIDEO port on your TV.

Let me know what happens.

I had this working just fine up until I purchased a component input switcher so that I could use both my Wii and my Xbox1 through the same component input on my TV. All was GREAT until the screen turns completely white, then the signal gets garbled and the screen flickers black and then goes back to normal.

When I plug my xbox directly into my TV (remember..using BOTH component AND s-video cables) it works perfectly and looks beautiful in 1080i."
