DVI -> HDMI Question

Hey all, first time poster and i hope im not putting this in the wrong spot =P

I have a Samsung LN-S3238D, have been using it for gaming, and a home theater without any problems. When i picked up a new video card for my copmuter (Radeon X1650), I decided to pick up a DVI - HMDI cable. I hooked it up and after a little toying around with resolutions i was able to get it set. It seemed to work fine, nothing out of the ordinary.

However after reading a little bit on Samsungs help page. I found out that the LN-S series doesn't support DVI - HDMI from computer to TV, because of a combined HDMI/DVI jack.

Is it going to be safe using this connection with my TV or should i just go with the VGA jack on the back.

Thanks in Advance All =D.

Use the VGA connection. The HDMI from DVi connection will probably not work at all and if it does might do some damage.

So, you're saying if I hook up my computer (DVI out) to my television (HDMI in) that I could cause damage to my television? Damage to my computer? If so, why is this?

What is my alternative?

Thanks.

so are you implying that the only use for an hdmi-dvi cable is for applications where the HDMI is at the source and the DVI input is on the display. I was not aware that you could not run it the other way.

check this link....it would appear that it will run a signal both ways
