The new service for the Playstation 3, PlayTV will have 2 TV tuners, which are able to view, record & play back HD signals in 1080P.

Seamless connectivity with PSP allows you to set recordings, watch Live TV and recorded TV programmes remotely on PSP via a Wi-Fi connection (using Remote Play feature).

Unlike the electronic programme guides found on conventional satellite and cable services, PlayTVís EPG is lightning fast & simple to use. PlayTV will evolve with time & updated by the PLAYSTATION Network.

Nice. I'll have to ask for this next xmas assuming it gets great reviews when it comes out. I've been looking into DVR lately but haven't decided. Maybe I'll wait to find out how this is reviewed.

This is going to bomb because the DVR market is already cluttered with cable and satellite DVRs, and tivo. You have to also consider that only a small percentage of PS3 owners will buy this, which has sold poorly so far.

I still don't understand how the PS3/360 can be DVR's. Where do they input video? USB?

Switcher could be used I think.

Following this feature very closely, info is so vague right now. Might be a while before its released here, and will it work with cable and satellite when it is released here is the million dollar question.

But considering how the current DVR's don't output 1080p signals maybe not. So now Cyg I officially predict you will be the first one with this great product.

What do you need a 1080p tuner for? No one broadcasts in that format. It is possible to feed 1080p on the internet, but content protection would be an issue.

Maybe an answer to a problem that doesn't exist?

Correct me if I am wrong but cable/satellite shows HD in 1080i, at least in US I think. I also wonder what compression will be used on the DVR..mpeg2, mpeg4?

It could be an internet service providing 1080p content.
