Does FX have any HD shows?

Others have noted that Bravo has yet to show anything in HD. Just scanning through FX today, including watching a movie, I noticed FX doesn't identify and has yet to show anything in HD as well. Has anybody noticed anything in HD or in a 16:9 ratio yet?

They're like Sci-Fi channel, I think. In the daytime they show mostly older shows that were shot in 4:3. Even theatrical movies are shown in 4:3 SD. It's like they turn on the HD feed at 8 p.m. I'm sure as of 8 p.m. their prime time shows will all be in 16:9 HD.

Hope you are correct. I think they are new to the HD game so maybe they will be getting more HD programming as they are on longer.

Watching Maid in Manhattan during the break in the Indians/Sox game and it is in a 4:3 aspect ratio. At least it is not stretched.

I am very disappointed there is no HD content in the schedule. Even shows that were obviously shot in HD are not broadcast in HD. Tomorrow night 'Damages' is on tv. It is filmed in HD so we will see if it is broadcast in HD on FX. If not I will be highly disappointed.

I seriously doubt that a Fox owned network would pull a Bravo and be HD in name only. Relax, Sci-Fi seemed to be the same thing, but I've seen a lot of really good HD programs on that channel.

As an avowed enemy of StretchoVision, I'm hopeful that FX will show DAMAGES and NIP/TUCK in HD, since they were previously letterboxed in SD.
Regarding Bravo, a couple of Sundays ago, it ran some episodes of NBC's new primetime lineup (LIFE, etc.) in HD, and SciFi has run FLASH GORDON, etc. in HD. So I'm just thankful that these channels unlike the heinous TBS, are doing correct aspect telecasting.
Still, it would be nice if they can get HD masters of all the movies they air, especially FX and USA.

These stations will have to get with the program and invest to get all their broadcasts in HD. Otherwise they will not be viewed. I don't watch stretchovision unless it's cartoons, which look great by the way. If MGM, UPN, and HDNET can convert to HD there is no reason, TBS, FX and USA can't do the same. Just calling it HD and stretching it is not going to fool us videophiles who have been waiting anxiously waiting for HD. Many older people don't know the difference and don't care but as the population gets younger they are going to demand true HD content. I think (hope) in the next two or three years all broadcasts from HD channels will be true HD form and not stretchovision.

You have to hit them in the pocket book by not watching their sh*tovision. The bottomline is dictating their lack of HD content and it's only the bottomline which will make them invest in HD content (new and converted). :busy:

I hate to tell you this but the population is getting older, not younger, thanks to couples who don't want kids, and abortion. Not a political statement, just a fact.

When did FX start with the stretchovision and humongous bug? It was good yesterday....now it's for sh*t.

You guys have to be patient. Some of these stations have been "HD" for what, 2 weeks, and you are expecting them to have a full library of HD content. Be reasonable and not so much into instant gratification. HiDef is still in its infancy with most of these networks and in the households of most people. Heck my local CBS affiliate isn't even digital, much less HD, over the air. You guys sound like you have had these stations for 5 years as opposed to the 5 minutes you actually have had them. Get a grip...

I had a brain freeze. You're right the baby boomers are just hitting retirement. So the % population of old people is getting larger. I guess what I meant is that the old people are set in their ways but as more people come of tv watching age they will be part of the IPOD generation and will expect HD content. And as far as us 30 and 40 somethings, when we get old we will still demand HD. The non HD watching group can only get smaller. No one goes from demanding HD to not wanting it. So overall the HD watching group is growing. :busy:

Not watching a satellite channel has little impact on what they do or don't do. They still get their ad revenue and their carriage fees regardless of who is or isn't watching. The only way to force them to change is for subscribers to speak with their dollars by canceling their programming. Since we don't have ala carte pricing, where we can pick and choose what channels we want or don't want, most people will not make a statement and cancel their programming. As it stands now, it's an all or nothing situation so, the programmers know this and will continue to do what they want regardless of viewer comments.

Luckily I have some power since I'm a Nielsen family. So I represent something like 25,000 people in my area.

Now, I don't normally watch F/X. Was Damages a current tv series of theirs? If so, that doesn't look to good since it was in 4:3 last night. Was that a new episode?

Mystic 7, I can't tell if you are being fascetious or not about the Neilsen box. I didn't even know Neilsen monitered D**. That being the case we can hit them in the pocket book by not watching these so called HD channels, unfortunately I have to finish watching Damages cause I already wasted many hours on it. The plot better speed up a bit or I may stop watching anyway. I have nip/tuck set to record but it isn't tagged as HD. I will immediately hit delete if it's not in HD.

Even if Neilsen doesn't monitor D** they can tell what shows are being Tivo'd. Just just the Janet Jackson nipple slip. They had stats on how many people saw that. So let's not watch their crap.

Since Mystic7 represents us from this forum at Neilsen, we should be able to vote on and veto Mystic7's viewing habits. Please don't watch FX, USA, TBS until further notice.

Now YOU're the one being facetious ;)

Yes, I'm a Nielsen family. Their worst nightmare, actually. Any time they want to come over to maintain the equipment I tell them to bring me a $100 gift card or I'm not letting them in. If they say they can't give me one every time they need to come over I tell them ok, I'm gonna rip their shit outta the walls. That usually does it. It IS a pain if you plan on doing any painting or renovation work, which we did a few months ago. The back of my tv's have all these power strips and mini computers and a ton of wires and power cords.

Anyway, yes, I really am a Nielsen family.

Now we know who to blame for all the crap they put on TV.

I'm sure it's a royal pain, but how cool to have so much clout over the ratings. With the tiny sample sizes and low statistical confidence levels they use, you probably count as 50 or 100 thousand viewers. That's a lot of juice.

The DVD's of Sunny are in widescreen, so hopefully when DTV get FX in HD, SUNNY will be too.

I love Sunny.

I love the Shield even more. Shield is the best, most captivating, mind blowing series I have ever seen. I saw the premiere episode, season 1 on the very first airing, I had been following the commercials and it looked good. So I watched the first ever aired episode. I have been glued ever since. I haven't missed a single episode in 6 seasons. I have even gone back and watched every episode from every season as well.

Love the shield.

Awesome Dolby 5.1 sound. Even if you hate Nip/Tuck you will love the Audio Broadcast, provided you have proper equipment. That was one of the best sounding audio mixes I've ever heard for a TV show.
