Repair Options For LCD

My 3 year old just hit my new 40" Sony XBR with a super ball cracking the panel. Still have sound and everything just no picture. Insurance of course said that this wasn't one of the 14 perils I'm covered for and the estimate is for more than the TV cost.

What options are there to get parts, repair it or otherwise?

Word to the wise, if you have young ones around I would look for something to protect the screen as this was not a hard throw or a very hard ball.

Thanks

Joe

This is one reason why I recommend plasma when people have young ones. A glass screen can take a ball bouncing off of it (albeit, not hard, but still harder than LCD).

The panel on that TV is most likely about $1800 to get replaced. So you can either get a new TV or replace the panel for a few hundred less.
