I realize this channel was just added today-but CNBC HD channel 355 will not come in on my tv.Are any of you having this probnlem too?
I have all the newest equipment..5LNB dish and the B-band connector on the back of my receiver.

The tech at Directv told me on the phone that he sent a signal to my receiver...also he said that I should'nt be having any problems getting this channel in my area..since I am in the footprint signal area.Whatever the heck THAT MEANS !

He said it was working at his place at Directv.I told him..well,you just added this channel today..maybe not everyone is getting it.Also he offered to send a tech over to see if its an equipment problem.
I live in southern California in zip code 90272.

Are ANY of you NOT getting CNBC HD channel 355..there are two channel 355's..one is HD and the other is not.:banghead:

It is working. It is HD. The program is either not HD or it is simply 4:3. Remember that a program can be HD and still be 4:3. HD does not have to be 16:5. Change the color of your pillar box to gray and see if it remains black. Then change between CNBC-HD and CNBC.

I called DTV again tonight and it turns out that the techs at DTV are turning the channel off and on..its still in the testing stages.tech said its a known technical issue...just for your information.

WHY could'nt the first tech of told me that ??!!!!!

I have that problem on one of my two sets. I also live in Southern Cal. My main box comes in perfect. The set that is having the problem had it before with the first batch of channels I fixed it by doing a full reset ( the one that wipes out your hard drive) and it worked. Now after I watch a couple of the shows I recorded I will try that to see if it fixes the problem.

My CNBCHD is not showing up because Directv tech told me last night that they are still working on that specific channel...they said its a known issue and are working on it.My receiver box is in great shape. The channel is not.

That seems to be the new catch-all excuse. "It's a known issue". No problems here with any of the stations. Mind you, occasionally a station disappears, but it comes back.

The question is "WHY is the channel disappearing and then coming back for you ?" Also,DTV tech 's are very blunt and would of told me if it was a problem on my end, which it is not-it's a problem they are working on with that specific channel. I live in the Los Angeles suburbs. ALL of my other new HD channel's are working.

It's not just CNBC, which hasn't disappeared at all, it's stations like Smithsonian. I think they're still tweaking things over at D*. Just like ESPN doing that temporary blank screen thing again after not doing it for a few months, and now it stopped again. Why get so upset about it? We insisted they launch the channels, they launched them, now let them fix the small technical errors as they occur.

I agree with you:)

I guess I'm happy it's CNBC HD(which DTV said they're having an issue with from their place and still working on) that's not working and not all my other new HD channel's.Thank GOD !

I agree with you. Sure is nice to have that ESPN glitch gone...at least temporarily.;)

I don't think it's a D problem. I receive it on one DVR but not the other. Go figure

Aparently they are confused about this issue at DTV tech department-one part of the department says it's a known issue and they are working on it and the other tech at the department does'nt know what's going on.

I did look at the directv technical forum and there are 3 or 4 customer's there who are having the same problem i am with no CNBC HD channel.

One person said his spotbeam for that channel says 0 and it's on transponder 22 on 101b which is 0.

People expieriencing the outage of CNBCHD are so far in Washington D.C., Palmdale ,california,Pittsburgh,PA.
-this is quite a coincidence,is'nt it? And I'm in Los Angeles,California.

I am in LA county and haven't had any problems with CNBC-HD or any other HD channel for that matter. I just switched it to CNBC-HD and the program is in HD. The actual program itself is only 4:3, but they use a red pillar box, the stock ticker on the bottom is on the full length of the screen and the CNBC HD+ symbol is over the red pillar box on the bottom right of the screen.

I checked it out yesterday morning when I got up, again yesterday afternoon when I got off work, last night before I went to bed when you first brought this to our attention, this morning when I got up, this afternoon again, and I just switched it now to check it out. Each time it was in HD. Right now they have a nice looking multi-toned blue pillar box with two little CNBC HD+ symbols impeded in the pillar box.

I don't know why I care anyway; I don't like CNBC.

Is anybody watching the playoffs on TBS-HD now? Did you notice the top portion of the screen is cut off an placed in the bottom portions underneath a thin black line?

DTV told me last night the reason why I'm not receiving CNBCHD. His explanation was very interesting.
He said"when your satelite dish was installed we did'nt know about what the future HD channel's coordinances would be.in other words the installer could'nt point it to an area of a channel that did'nt exist yet...the channel's direction instruction's aren't given till the channel is about to come out-then the installer knows where to point the dish . So, in my area, where I live in zip code 90272...the dish was not pointing in the direction of CNBCHD when I had my installation..because that channel's info was not available yet to the installer.
I have a service call schedule to have them to point my dish in the right direction.

You would THINK with all the puiblicity about these channel's and the size of Directv's company they would have their act together and be prepared for these HD channel's !:banghead:
