Need help connecting TV,DVR,DVD Recorder

10-01-2007, 03:48 PM

I'm trying to record from my DVR to my DVR Recoder..

I have:

Sony Bravia 32 in. Integrated LCD HDTV - KDL32S3000
Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD (tru Time Warner Cable)
Sony DVD Recorder/VCR Combo - RDR-VX555

Currently i have both, DVR and DVD recorder hooked to the TV through HDMI Cables. What kind of connection do i need to do to be able to copy DVDs from my DVR and TV?

Any help is appreciated!!!!

Use S-Video from the DVR to the DVDR and all will be wonderful.

What Bill suggested will work for getting video out of the DVD to the recorder, but will not help in getting a signal from your TV to the recorder. Maybe that was a mistype in your post though. If you really want to record out of your TV, there may be a monitor output on your TV, but they generally only will output SD signals from SD inputs only.

Also, I have had some issues with Macrovision copy guard on some of the programs I have tried to record from my TiVo and/or DVD. It is a function of the recorder as to whether it will cut off due to Macrovision. There are some boxes that can be placed in the signal to get around the Macrovision, but you are on your own finding one.
