IMO, they should under promise and over deliver. Come out and say late October, and when theyre up around the 15th, everyone will be surprised and happy! Could also help with the PR hit they took with the delay of release of the current channels.

Well I called D on Sun, to get an idea what my cost was going to be since I hope to order my new service this week. I was told they would be getting more channels next week. I kick myself for not asking for the exact channels they are going to be getting. But I was kind of in a hurry I was just looking to find price and about how long on install. She said I would be able to order any day this week and have in ďprobablyĒ installed with in the next two days.

I would have ordered it right then but I am STILL waiting on Best Buy to repair my Mitsu DLP under their extended warranty. Today makes one month since I called in to have a service tech out to repair. They showed up two weeks later ordered the parts and I have had the parts sitting on a table for two weeks.

Needless to say I am more than a little ticked at Best Buy and will probably never buy so much as a CD there again. But thatís another thread for another time. I will say their in home extended warranty is a JOKE they can only come out during the hours of 8:00 am and 3 pm. I hate to tell them America works till 5:00pm so that makes it a little tough.

Txkenpo,
that reminds me of my computer that had a part in it that was recalled and needs other new parts... and it's covered on any repair on a plan I bought 3 years ago.So I took it to the computer store and it's been over a week and still it's not fixed !
They have the parts for it ,but are not working on the computer because they said we have other people waiting to have their's fixed.
I am very frustrated.
I have a theory though..since my repair is covered and I don't have to pay a cent...the computer store is probably fixing the computer's that people are paying them money to fix..they get their stuff done quicker.
I called them today and they said they'd probably start working on it this afternoon.

You must be new here. Never believe any dates that a CSR gives you. Right fellas? :what:

As for warranties, don't buy them!!! As you both have found out, the savings in cost isn't worth the aggravation and you end up feeling like suckers.:haha:

No offense. I just wanted to use that new emoticon.

My Tivo update today shows programming for MGM HD starting on Saturday 6th October at 3am. Its channel number is 255, right next to TCM.

That might bump Directv to throw a few more out on the same day.

Please begin your arguments below!!!!

Best Buy has a 45 day guarantee for repairs. If it's not working 45 days after 1st date technician looked at it, you get a new or replacement unit free, but you gotta scream real loud to get it done.

I needed a circuit breaker for a new Samsung refrigerator (ice maker digital controls) which were wacky. They couldn't get the part. 46 days after the 1st service call, I called and 2 days later I got a new refrigerator delivered.

Went to TiVo's site just now and went to their online programming grid for D* and they list programming for MGM HD, MTV HD and CINEMAX HD. Though the programming for MTV HD is in the grid right now and I'm not getting that channel. But it's encouraging nonetheless.

Well I'm not sure if this is a test of the channels tonight or not, but flipping through to test TBS in HD, sure enough it showed up.

I have also watched A&E, CNN, Animal Planet, NFL Network, Discovery, Science, Military, etc all in HD tonight.

So perhaps they finally have it up and running, or they are just running a test

All the channels you just mentioned, with the exception of Military rolled out last week, officially.

I kind of figured from reading here the CSRís are full of crap. But to be honest I love the HD shows but only have a few I really watch. I am so looking forward to getting rid of Sudden Link cable the non HD shows are terrible at best and the HD shows well I donít have an HD TV right now. ( Thanks BEST BUY)

I do have one hang up I have two RG6, and 2 cat 5 lines at each outlet, but I will have to use both for the HDDVR. So to get the one OTA HD channel they donít offer I need to run another line. Thatís a big pain just to get CW network in HD any word on if and when they might offer that channel in HD?

But in response to warranties being worthless it cost me around $400 and they have replaced 1 lamp @ $150 and the parts I have waiting to install I was told were $1200. So yeah I am having to wait but it saved me a butt load of cash. :yippee:

He may be thinking of the History channel (aka, the WWII channel). :) It's the only channel he left off the list of new HD channels.

If I remember correctly there is no MTV HD, there's MHD which is an MTV owned station that will broadcast in HD. Correct me if I'm wrong. OK, never mind, I just checked, there IS an MTVHD but it's not scheduled until "the end of the year".

IOW, it is another video station that will not show a single minute of videos. The only video station worth watching is VH1 classic and it is the only one that shows video's (at least most of the time).

I'm glad to see someone that agrees with me on this. MTV used to be great in the mid-80's when they were showing nearly 100% videos. Most of the stuff on that channel is nothing but trash now, although I know a couple of teenage girls, 16 and 17 years old that would disagree with me. :)

No Iím outside the OEM warranty itís a 2004 model needs a power supply, capacitor, and something else. So yeah as much as I hate to admit it, the warranty did pay of it self in this instance. I also bought one for my 360 and Iím on my 3rd one now. All before Microsoft decided to up their OEM warranty so that paid for it self also. Other than that I donít usually buy them.

Iím with you on that back in the day I loved MTV, head bangers ball, the real videos. None of the crap they show now, more reality show then music channel. But that was back when I had long hair and loved hair bands LOL. Now Iím old and have kids that hate my music. LMAO

Speak for yourself. My family has purchased protection on high end TV's and came in very handy. We bought a $3,000 Samsung TV and it pretty much broke and had it replaced fully and with little hassle.

When you buy your TV you need to ask yourself is "after the initial warranty ends can I afford to go out and replace this tv". Someone in my position (on disability and having a house foreclosure from said disability) can not just put the new TV on a Credit Card. So the $300-$400 is a HELL of a lot cheaper option than praying to god that the TV doesn't break and then having to wait over 1 yr to replace it with an equivalent set.

First off, I am speaking for myself. Most tv's break in the first year, which is covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

Secondly, I've been through foreclosures, a few of them actually, in wonderful S. Florida. I've spent the past 20 years living paycheck to paycheck until we sold our house and moved out of that shithole of a state. So don't think I'm some spoiled rich kid who can afford to replace something when it breaks.
