hey guys,

i just got my new lb-5 dish and hddvr today. after he left i called to switch locals so i could get them in hd - gave the csr a new orleans address for the service address. anyway, she switched the address.

well, now two of my tvs get new orleans locals and my hd set (with my dvr) still gets baton rouge. what is the deal with this!? shouldnt all my receivers have switched service areas?!

why wont my hddvr get the new orleans locals? any ideas?

Did you use a real address to get them to switch you or a fake one? I've been thinking of trying this myself.. Wierd you get two sets of locals channels..

I live in the Greenville SC viewing area. I get my locals in HD but not my RSN. If I used my parents address in Atlanta area would I get the Atlanta locals including the RSN in HD.

Thanks

I used a real address - my father's address actually.

Yes, i find it very weird that I am receiving two sets of local channels.

Is it really as easy as just giving them someone's mailing address and then you get those locals?

It is until you need DTV to come fix something for you. They'll want to come to your service address and will schedule a "local" contractor for the service call.

You may have to change back to your real address if you ever need a service call.

hit the red reset button and have the box re-gather satellite info.

So do i just call, and ask to change my service address?

Tell them you are rehabbing a home in another city and it already has an antenna. Tell D* that you need the service at the rehab home for a while.

Use internet billing - no paper sent anywhere. Also, if you need a repair, just verify the REAL address. Same if you have new equipment shipped. I recently had a new H20 shipped to Montana and had to talk to the Fedex guy there to de-direct it.

You may need to change the Zip Code under the settings to New Orleans. Let me know if that works.

That should have nothing to do with it. Thats for OTA stations.

You need to call DTV and tell them. You would have had it fixed by now.

Ok, took your advice and called. Apparently it was something with the access card. Now everything is working 100%!!!!

not only that, but while we were waiting for the receiver to boot up, she asked me what i did for a living and i told her that i own a software progam that i use to set up large businesses for a lunch program. every employee orders individually from their computer and restaurants deliver to the office free (i contract with the restaurants as well). I get a cut of each order. This is for offices over 100 employees. ANyway, she loved it and now she is pitching it to corporate (there are over 2k directv employees at the florida office). She got my phone, email, everything, and said shed let me know.

How ironic. We'll see what happens.

I have been using a different address since 09/04. I get my locals in sd and HD, plus Sd east and west, and HD form L.A.

Does this include KTLA or is it just KABC, KNBC, KCBS, and KTTV (FOX)?
