HD Channels Update?

09-12-2007, 05:23 PM
Just got off the phone with two different CSRs and both said the first batch of HD channels will start on the 19th of September. A tech support rep said all current HD channels are included in the current 9.99 a month fee but after Dec 15, HD only channels (i.e HDNet, HDNet Movies, new Smithsonian HD channel) will cost an additional 4.99 a month. Channels that are also available in SD will remain in the 9.99 package with D* graciously throwing in Discovery HD.

WHAT!? They are gonna start charging more if you already subscribe? WTF is up with that?

If that is true, that all the channels that have a SD channel will be included for $9.99, then it will be a STEAL! I will drop E* the next day if that is indeed the fact. I find it hard to beleive that for $14.99 or so we will be getting over 40 HD channels when E* get $20.00 for mostly basic HD with a bunch of Voom crap trown in. Like I said though if that is true I will be have D* installed ASAP!

The new info on the HD stuff is up on Directv.com and it looks like you will get the HD for $9.99 a month, all of it! It looks like I will be making the call!

I suppose they will be putting the knife and gemstones along with the religious channels on FREE HD.
Is there anyway to trade the above channels along with the Spanish language programs for a say 3 to 1 trade for additional HD channels.
I guess something like choice would be ok.
