Hey all... new to these forums. Thought I'd see if anyone could help me out with the headaches of buying a new tv.

Currently, I am looking at the Samsung HCP4241W 42" HDTV. It's basically and entry level, big screen tv. I am looking at this because I can get the tv right now for $1,300 (Canadian), and I am somewhat limited in the funds department so this fits nicely into my budget. I have looked at the tv and from what I can tell it looks great. Pretty good viewing angle and colors and blacks seem pretty good, with decent crispness. Although the display I was looking at was of coarse in HDTV, so I'm not to sure what regular cable will look like, not that it's a hudge deal as I'm mainly buying this for DVD's. I guess I'll have to get and HDTV package as well though.

Anyway, if anyone has had any experience with this tv, or know any pros/cons of it I would greatly appreciate the help.

I think my brain is about to hemorage from trying to decide on what tv. If there's any others tv's around the same size/price that would work out better, please let me know. Thanks.

T.

Just joined the forum and am looking for an "entry level" HDTV. The model referenced above (Samsung HCP4241W 42" RPTV) is on sale in the US for $999 at Sears. Wonder if anyone has any feedback on this unit. Also looking at some 30" CRT-based 16:9 options (Sony and Samsung) but the larger screen size, especially for 4:3 viewing, is appealing. Any advice will be appreciated, tnx.

Hello, I dont really have any advice on what you should buy, but go to www.samsclub.com go to electronics then televisions and you will find the 47 inch Samsung model for $1,047.00 If you are not familiar with Sam's club, they are owned by Wal Mart and offer online purchasing & delivery. Good Luck! :hithere:

I wouldn't buy that model Samsung because it has no HDMI or DVI inputs. For the US market, the 41W model line is replaced with the 52W line which has HDMI.
