Problem with the Side Bars "width" HELP!

02-10-2005, 03:12 AM
Hi guys, any help would be greatly appreciated...
I have a Mits WS-65315 HDTV. I have Comcast HD, with the motorolla reciever.
My problem is when I am watching channels like ESPNHD or ABCHD, etc, and the shows are in Standerd Definition the picture is usually not too good.

Now something I noticed that might be the problem is the Side bars that are used on SD are uneven on my TV. The left sidebar is about 3/4 of an inch bigger than the right sidebar.
I am wondering if this is doing something to the picture. Basically instead of the bars being 5 inches on the left and right side it is something like 5.5 inches on the left and 4.5 inches on the right.

Now is this happening because of the TV or the HD cable box?

I have have moved once so I have tried out more than one of the motorolla boxes and the same thing occured. I have checked through the entire on the menu of the TV and there is nothing there to help change the bars. Any and all help will be appreciated and any other questions you guys might need to help answer this problem I will try to answer asap.

I had the same thing happen on my sony lcd rp. I ran tests patterns with avia and noticed the picture was off center and bars were uneven. I went through what I thought was all the pertinent menu options and figured I was out of luck. To get to the point, there is an option on my menu under set up called "game velocity" (not sure about the velocity part but am sure about the game) that allows me to move the picture left/right.

If i wasnt pointed to that option from another user, I would never have tried it. I dont know much about the mits, but maybe you can go through the menu again and see what you can find, wont hurt.

There's any easy way to find out. Run a splitter on the incoming feed and send one to the STB and the other directly to the display. Most users report better PQ on SD programs using this method as the Motorola's analog tuner is not the greatest.
