TERK HDMI switcher question

I recently bought the terk hdmi automatic switcher that will automatically switch to the source that is on. I have a Sony 60" LCD with 1 HDMI input and have 2 hdmi sources, Directv HD DVR and Samsung R-135 DVD recorder/upconverter. When I connect them to the tv individually each source works fine, but when I use the switcher then the DVD source flickers on then off and continually does it while connected. I have eliminated cables and I hooked up the DVR only with the switcher and it worked fine. I hooked up only the DVD recorder with the switcher and it would flicker again. It doesn't appear to be a problem with the switcher, but maybe with the Samsung. Could this be possible? Is there a setting that I should change?

I tried that I would put the directv in standby mode and it still did it. I also just hooked up the dvd recorder to the switch and the tv without the dvr and it still did it.
