Soooooo the wife and I had to go out of town for a friend's grand-pa's funeral...but on the way back we stopped at the apt. to drop off our clothes and then went to Wal-mart and bought an X-box 360!! While we were there I decided to just go ahead and spend the extra $$ and bought the elite...and...it's amazing :) I went by and bought Madden 07 and figured I'd just play that until next year and buy Madden 2009. Soooooo I got the 120GB hard drive and all the other stuff.

Hope I made you guys proud for spending the extra $$..the wife was like...you'll play it more and I'll never notice...so if you want it buy it. I was like HECK YES! The hardest part was setting up her controller because I couldn't figure it out and then read that there was a connector button. Sooooooo I'm off of work the rest of the day and will be enjoying it all night.................after I clean the house :) haha

Uh.....Dude, M$ just announced a factory 3 year warranty. Even though ours has broken twice, the service has been relatively good. You may want to re-think the whole warranty issue. Is WalMart going above and beyond fixing the system, ie: giving you a new one?

I was told the M$ warranty only covered the drive or something...if I'm wrong I just wasted like $40 lol.....

The MS warranty covers 1 year on everything and 3 years on the ring of death issue. If the walmart warranty starts AFTER the MS one, giving you a full 3 years, then its probably worth it.

the X360 comes with a 1year parts and labour warranty from Microsoft, and upto 3 years coverage on the 3rings of death issue. I would highly recommend purchasing the Microsoft warranty instead as their service is very good once you get past the English barrier with the phone reps. If the Walmart one is like a replacement plan, you could keep it until your X360 dies and then use it to get a replacement. Once you get a replacement, you could probably then purchase the Microsoft contract.

Hmmm, maybe it's just me but it sounds to me like your wife was trying to tell you that you never pay any attention to her. If I were you I'd be more worried about getting divorced or cheated on than getting the 3 red rings of death, but it sounds like you don't care... :what:

Whatever. My point had nothing to do with the console and everything to do with what his wife said. I wouldn't have said the thing about the red rings of death though if he was talking about the PS3 because the PS3 is actually well-built.

tell that to my 2 systems i had to send back to sony. and after talking to the local gamestop manager the numbers are climbing (not trying to start something here just reporting what i was told). he also told me during the first 3 months he received word the 360 return rate for failure was 40%. he got that info when the store was still ebgames and the company sent he info like that but since gamestop took over they stopped getting 360 info. he stated he is getting plenty of ps3 info though.

kinda makes you wonder why the 360 info was being held back all of a sudden (conspiracy anyone).

I honestly hope you're kidding...my wife gets everything she wants at the drop of the hat because I put her needs first. She wanted me to get the game system I wanted because I'll notice it more than she will because she won't play it as much as I will. It makes me laugh that you say something like that, it's like you just want to start crap with people. I may just log off here and play the new game I bought tonight at Best Buy....oh by the way may I point out that it's the game my wife picked out because she wanted a game that she'd like to play....but i guess it sounds like I don't care. ;)

She was trying to decide between a Top Spin 2 for 360 and an original Xbox Cars game...I wanted the Top Spin, but she wanted the Cars game...so I said we could order the Top Spin game off e-bay used or something and get her cars game new from Best Buy...when we got home and put it in I found out I have to update the Xbox 360 to play the old xbox games....kind of odd that they make you update it to do that since the PS2 had no problems playing the original PS games.

I thought I got a free subscription to X-box live with the purchase of my x-box but I couldn't find a card anywhere inside the box. I may just order the disk so that we can update it, but who knows how long that'll take. We're not sure how long it'll take to get DSL out here..so who knows. I only want to buy 360 games for as the games of my choice because of the 1080i, but she insists she can't tell the difference lol.

dont worry about glow he gets on people nerves and can say some petty stuff. just do what a lot of people from here do and ignore him. i pick and choose what to respond to when it comes to him and it keeps us from arguing (at least most of the time).

so if you makes you upset then just ignore him and everyone here will understand why.

You know, you are not the first one to say that your wife does not notice the difference. My wife as well as that of a friend of mine said the same thing when I tried to show her the difference. So I blew it off. It wasn't until a few months later that she was sitting in my daughters room watching a DVD on my daughter's SDTV that she told me "Honey, now I see what you were talking about, Cinderella looks like $h!+". And so, I was finally vindicated for all of the times she would tell me that there was no difference.:)

The 360 handles backwards compatibility through the software. Not all titles will work and they occasionally update it which requires downloading updates. There is a list of titles support on their website and the updates can be downloaded and installed from CD - Maybe you can burn a CD at work?

I went to our campus last night at like 10:00 P.M. to try to get on the wireless, but with the Chicago Bears being on campus it was hard to get around (even though I work for the security for camp). I couldn't get it to download because of our campus' wireless (surprise surprise IT sucks). We're at the in-laws this weekend and we downloaded it and burnt it to a CD.

Everytime we go to save the file to a CD it says that the file contains some data that may be lost in the transfer. Do you know what is up with that? I'm trying to figure it out and I am hoping that I can get it fixed. If not we're going to return the Cars game and just get a 360 game.

Does anyone know if I was supposed to get a free trial of X-box live? I thought I got a free trial of it, but there was no card or anything in the box.

From what I understand the Siver membership is free, it lets you download some things but you are limited with what you can do online. As far as a free trial, I wouldn't know. Some 360 games give you a free 48 hour trial, but that is not enough. You might try for one of the package deals that give you a vision camera, headset, 12 month subscription and some free downloads for certain arcade titles. I think the package is around the $75 dollar range.
