Anyone have any thoughts on the Panasonic CT-30WX54?
I haven't yet taken the plunge into HDTV but am planning to pick up the Panasonic because:
- the price is right ($819);
- the picture seems better than others in the $900 price range;
- it has PIP (the Sony in this price range doesn't) and;
- it will fit in my armoire (a must).
Any/all thought welcome as this is my first foray into HDTV.

I purchased that exact model from circuit city a month ago - We love it BUT the out of the box picture was way too hot and the brightness has to be maxed out to get any detail in the dark areas of the picture - they just look like flat black objects when less than that setting. I logged on here to see if anyone could give some guidance if it that seems normal or should I return it for another one.

IMHO the picture is much finer than the comparable Sony - But I too was limited by price and furniture reqirements.

I echo the sentiments of SkTampa. Watching the darker color scenes on DVD's like Spiderman and Matrix almost feels like you're watching through sunglasses. I haven't fooled around with the settings too much yet. I also don't yet have a HD receiver so I can't comment on the HD quality yet.

When I was shopping for a new TV I was also limited by price and size for my room. It boiled down to Panasonic, Sony and Toshiba. (can't remember the exact models though). For me, dollar for dollar the Panny was the best of the 3.
