Sony Computer Entertainment France president Georges Fornay dropped the bombshell in an interview with French-language newspaper Les Dernières Nouvelles d'Alsace (subscription required). He said, "The development costs of games have exploded, and it has become more difficult to have exclusives, outside of our own games. But we have for launch day [in France] 30 games, including MotorStorm, Resistance: Fall of Man, and Virtua Fighter 5. Moreover, we are expecting 200 games [for the PS3] by the end of 2007...As far as Final Fantasy XIII goes, I can tell you that the exclusivity is in discussion."

My opinion. The PS3 is in trouble if FFXIII goes multi-platform.

Wait a second, I'm sorry to get off topic and yes I do agree with you that losing FF would not be great, but he said the PS3 will have 200 games by the end of '07? That's pretty amazing to me if it's true. I don't know, maybe that's normal though.

Every market is going to have unique games that are unique to their particular region. Maybe they are just summing them all up. For instance, there are many games released only in Japan that the rest of the world doesn't get to see. I'll believe it when I see it, although a good portion of that number are simply going to consist of the same sports games that recieve a refreshening as they are released in the form of a new version every year.

All I want to say is if this goes neutral DMC4 going neutral will be the calm before the storm. I doubt it's true though cause this really has potential to hurt Sony at the heart which is Japan.

Ahh...that makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

positive note: 360 owners will get to experience a HELL of a game. developers are probably thinking that they want to share this experience. plus the major factor OF COURSE is money money money.. its costing ALOT to make these nex-gen games, even if the PS3 came out a year before the 360(a viseversa scenario) developers would have still made/make there games for all consoles(and of course im refering to 3rd party developers lo)

Perhaps Microsoft should port Halo 1 and 2 to the PS3? If they don't want to distract Bungie from their duties right now, they could just hire someone from the outside. I honestly think a PS3 port of the first 2 Halo games would be a very good thing for Microsoft, as it would give people a chance to experience the Halo universe. Who knows, maybe it will persuade them to get a X360 when Halo 3 comes out exclusive to the X360. Halo 1 and 2 would be the bait that gets some of them hooked onto the series.

Wow I think your onto something, but the thing is people would think oh well they will port Halo 3 just like they did 1 and 2 and so no benefit. If they can say however we are not bringing 3 as well they just might get them hooked. Maybe they ought to do it on the virtual console for the Wii since people know it can't handle Halo 3 and that Microsoft is not in direct competition with Nintendo.

I dono about that... That is kind of like having Mario/Zelda/Metroid on the 360.

Not gonna happen. Yet would it be cool? Possibly.

That's exactly what i'm talking about. I believe there is no harm in porting Halo 1 and 2 to other consoles, and it would also bring some extra revenue into Microsoft. What's the harm when the Nintendo isn't powerful enough to compete in the HD areana? However, I still think they should consider porting to the PS3. People would fully expect Halo 3 to never get ported, because they know that it's a Microsoft only title.

i read in a thread at PS3forums.com(with a provided source link) that sony is going to try and keep those exclusive titles exclusive.. not sure what that means or how legit was the guy/girls post but it was interesting when i read it that sony is actually going to try something LOL.
